Uploading to S-Drive - Post ID 208379
I'm building a website with VSD. The Link function is working fine when linking a VSD page to another VSD page. However, when I upload a thumbnail jpg, and Link the enlarged jpg of the image to the thumbnail, it does not show up in any Preview screen... one browser mentions a problem with the address protocol.
Scott suggested I publish to S-Drive so I can view my page as it will be, and hopefully can test the image Link. I did publish to S-Drive but the files are still not there, so guess I'm missing a piece in the instructions... like uploading the files?
I do not want S-Drive to be the default publishing location as I see in the instructions.
I am saving my page to a thumb drive as I work on it, and would like to continue doing that
automatically. I will just go to the vanauten.coffeecup.com page via a browser so I can see it.
So... could you tell me exactly how to upload the web files to my http://vanauten.coffeecup.com/ space? (On the thumb drive there is a folder titled "files" that was created by VSD... is this the folder I would upload from? And... I'm assuming just "copies" of those files would be uploaded so I can continue to save to the thumb drive?
Sorry... I know all this should be completely obvious! (have never done this before)
Thanks...
Deborah.

Hi Deborah,
The easiest way to upload a VSD site is to use its built-in publishing. VSD will upload all the files it needs and create a back-up folder.
You should have all of your website files saved in one place to ensure that all your images, graphics, documents, etc. get uploaded along with the .vnu file and the Files folder. (Do not add anything to the Files folder, VSD creates that for its own use).
Open your site in VSD, preview it to see if everything looks good, then go to Publish and choose your SDrive acct. ( http://www.coffeecup.com/help/articles/ … h-s-drive/ )
So are you using the SDrive just to test things, do you have a different host for the site? You can always remove your site later if you need to move it somewhere else, and you can add other FTP accounts to your publishing destinations in VSD.
Once you've published to SDrive, go to your account and check the Settings > Default Content.
(Stream-Site-Shop-Forms) Choose which one needs to show when you go to your SDrive address.

I think what you were asking is how to add files to your VSD site. Such as a thumb or larger pic via a 'link'. If you 'add' pictures to your VSD site then they are automatically added to the program. If you try and 'link' to a picture you have not added, it will not be uploaded. Here's what you do...
In VSD go to the top menu and select 'Edit', drop down and select 'Add Files' On this screen you can add extra folders/files to the VSD site you are working on. Once they are added there, the 'link' you created will work in preview and after you publish. When you publish the site it will be uploaded wherever you select, you need not use S-Drive although it is very useful (and free to start) and the xtra folders and files you added will also be uploaded.
Let us know how it goes and if you need more help. Good luck!

Thank you all so much... everything is finally working properly and going well! I "may" have one last question at some point, but am almost finished.
Thanks for all the help!
Deborah.
