uploading issue - Post ID 77293

Bought the VSD and Photo Gallery software today and installed. Saved my PG Flash with a new name, inserted it into my page using the flash button, saved, previewed and it looks great without the "trial" stuff scrolling across the top of the flash.

Go to upload and it gets caught in a never ending cycle of uploading - I have to cancel out of it. It looks like it's cycling the flash files only, but i'm not sure.

Thoughts?

Hi William,
is all your ftp settings correct?
Does it give any kind of idea what it's hung up on?
Could it be that it's uploading takes time cause of all the images and such?
Just a couple questions, sorry

Thanks for the help Bruzer!

I haven't changed anything in regards to FTP - the connection seems to be made and it's during the uploading process that it gets stuck in a cycle. I have watched as it uploads the same 30 or so photographs from my Photo Gallery slideshow, which I use the Flash Button to put into my home page over and over and doesn't stop.

I do not see the rest of my website, which loads first, before the flash photos, I do not see the .swf file more than once.

Dang thing was working fine uptil I installed the purchased version of Photo Gallery

Well when I first did the upload using the flash to it took sometime cause of all the images, but I also had named my images with spaces, and it hung up or even stopped, could that be the case here. If the images have spaces it will just as well, if this is the case try adding an underscore ( _ ) between the names, Could you try to use an external ftp like Direct ftp or Filezilla to upload your Gallery, then upload it again in VSD?

hmmm. I haven't made any changes to the flash other than renaming it from Website Flash 1a to Website Flash 1b. The 1a version was made with the trial software and had a "trial copy" text scrolling across the top.

There seems to be no problem with uploading the flash solo from Photo Gallery. The problem is with the VSD upload. Which of course, previews perfectly.

I've let VSD run its upload for almost 10 minutes before canceling. It's never taken more than 2-3 before. I can also see the photo files repeating.

I'm sure I could try one of those programs, but do you really think that's where the problem lies?

Wait A Second Please William.
Did you uninstall the trial version first before installing the registered version?
The reason it made copies is because your now copying the first (1a) and (1b ) together. I would remove all the gallery files from VSD and the box on the page then save VSD. Then open Photo Gallery and open your gallery and save it as default just for testing which would be myalbum, (or make another one) then add that to VSD and upload see if you have the same problem.

Done lots of work to figure this out.

Saved a few files, removed both programs and reinstalled. But it seems some information is permenantly saved on my computer, because I didn't need to put the ftp info back into the program to upload.

Having deleted every version of my flash but my most current. And that copy is in a temp folder. I have searched my comp - no other copies exist. When I go to upload the site without any flash installed the uploader tries to upload 5 old versions of the flash. So i have to tell it "yes" upload without the file 300-400 times. But it will successfully upload once I've done all that!

So, seems to me there's a file somewhere that is telling the uploader to look for those now deleted files. Could it be the java script file swfobject.js which is located in my Home.vnu_website file? I have no other flashes on my website - can I delete that file? Should I?

Any other suggestions? This is getting to be a marathon.

One other piece of information. When I open VSD and answer the pop Open Website, choose my site to open, the program always crashes. If I open the program, not use the first pop-up, but close that, then open the file File\open\Home.vnu it all works fine. Reinstalled the program twice just to be sure that wasn't the problem.

Only adding this information as any little piece might give you of greater knowledge some insight.

Thanks!

OK!
usually offline -if you remove something from your website, and not from the Remove files option, it will look for them again, ok you know this. but when you try to upload, VSD reads a file called db.vsd.yourwebsite.php which allows it to follow every move, deletion, change to your page, so when you make changes and try to upload it will call on this file to recheck your site. This could also be where your trouble is. First make sure before you upload go to settings, remove files, and see if all gallery files and anything else you removed is not listed, wow this is the long way around it isnt it!

Ok when I open VSD, I go to files>open website and search the vnu, see if that helps. No need to delete the swf object!!!!

I'm Sorry your having such a problem...

Oh and I stopped that splash screen from opening too!
