Upload - Resync Info !!!!!! - Post ID...
Just to let you know.
For what ever reason anytime I use coffeecup resync or upload it takes forever to make my changes big or small and if I want to preview my site or page before I hit resync it can take up to 10-20 mins.
I do know to use the resync for my changes instead of uploading!!! or it will reload the entire site and in my case with many large video files I have learned not to upload.
However, After making my changes or adds with coffeecup I then use CS3 dreamweaver software for resync and upload my changes to my server hostmonster.com sending my "mysite.nvu" folder to my server using dreamweaver and it works great and super fast. My preview that can take up to 10-20 mins is now 30 to 60 seconds. And when I resync my upload changes or adds take a couple of min's instead of hours.
I think something is wrong with coffeecup upload/resync program. It clearly works normal through the CS3 dreamweaver software.
I enjoy making a website and wish to continue with coffeecup rather then learn other software. But something is wrong somewhere.
After using dreamweaver for uploading and resync my site is working normal.
Thanks John

Using the re-sync option will cause VSD to upload everything each time. You only use re-sync the first time you do an upload. After that, just upload normally and VSD will just send the changes.

Hi John!
Thanks for writing us. You should use the resync option when you have made any change, such as adding a page, video, music, or the like. The upload option reuploads your entire site, including all your large files. Because large files such as videos and music typically take a long time to load, this would explain why uploading your entire site would take up to 24 hours. So your best bet is to stick with the resync option.
Let me know if you have any other questions!

I think Brooke misunderstood your question. You only want to use re-sync if you want to send everything back your Website. You only want to use the upload button to send just the changes.

Scott, how do you only upload your changes. The only option I have in VSD is to re-sync the entire website. This is fine, it just takes forever and I make a lot of little changes often.
So say for simplicity that I add a page (that is a subpage accessed only by one of the 7 main tabs/pages). The top and bottom of the page (which I call a header and footer) is the same but the content in between is what is new. What now?

When VSD syncs, it has to compare every file locally with every file remotely to know what has been changed and what needs to be uploaded. Depending on your Website, bandwidth and computer resources, this can be very fast or very slow. There is no way to just send a single image up.
If you want more control like that, you could upload with an FTP program instead of using the built-in FTP.

Yeah FTP might be a good way to go for me. Unfortunately I dont know exactly what I'm supposed to be FTPing... I guess what I mean is, where does VSD save the changes I made so that I can upload them individually or maybe even just the specific page. Maybe I'll just stick with what I know! The problem I have though is that if I'm on my office T1 line, I always get an upload error from VSD. At home on cable I'm usually okay except that since its taking longer to upload, I have a longer amount of time for the error to occur. You see might plight. Anyway, sweet program otherwise.
Usually by default your website folder should be in your My Documents, then you would open that up and you'll see your html pages -a files folder (which gets uploaded)

I was having problems getting my site to recognize some new content that I added. PDF files. I had uploaded several times and still could not get the PDF documents to link to the buttons I put on the site. I finaly (and out of desperation) pressed the re-sync button and by magic all my problems went away and my buttons worked. I also noticed that some of the scroll work I had done went back to it's proper color.

This seems to be the same problem I have been having over the past couple of days. I have just linked 4 pdf files to a page and although they Preview OK when built on my computer, after uploading they can't be opened up through internet explorer etc. I get the error message HTTP and 404. (Previous pdf files I've attached to the website still open up OK). I have always just uploaded the website but will re-syncing it cure this problem?
Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
