There has to be a setting on Visual Site Designer that allows you to upload only the pages that you have changed, but I can't find it. Also, is there a way to select just the pages that you want to upload and then click the upload button??

Not within VSD as it checks whats new and uploads any changes, but takes time to do that.

You could upload via an external ftp program but you may miss files that have been changed without you knowing that may affect your site so best to go through the internal ftp unless you are really sure what you are doing.

I'm pretty sure that clicking upload rather than re-synch site uploads just your changes. (That is, after the first time the site has been uploaded to the server). I just tried making one small change on my site and hit the upload button. It only took a second, the names of the pages flashed by, but not all the individual file names. I'm guessing it does a quick scan of the pages to find your changes then ftp's only those changes rather than the whole site all over again.
For more control over the process, you could try the CC Direct FTP.

HI
If may put in my 2 cents worth , also add the image into the files folder on your server as well if your change was adding an image.

I think I should get you to translate for me Paintbrush...you always manage to explain it better than me .... thats what I was trying to say but thinking of too many different things at once and coming out as a jumble...

And yes a very good point from Bruzer too :)

What I was also trying to say was that VSD may be making changes to other files in the background that you don't realise so safer to upload through the internal ftp and then it checks and uploads everything it needs.

If you have a very large website with hundreds of pages it can take a while for it to check whats new though.

The other thing the VSD upload does, is tell you that you've deleted certain files when it begins the FTP process. For instance, if you've changed something in VSD (like an image), and the original file is still lingering in your folder even though you don't need it any more. Plus, that back-up .vnu file is created with the original upload, and gets automatically taken care of when you use the internal FTP.
I've never made a site with more than 15 - 20 pages at the most, so the upload is very fast. If I was going to have 100s of pages, I think I'd bite the bullet and learn PHP, server-side includes, data base stuff :P

Bruzer - your examples and tutorials are quite useful, Thank You for doing them! I always look at them even if it's something I don't need - never know when it might come in handy. :)

Tassie - I'm glad it was clear and not a rambling mess of an explanation. So many things I do with VSD, I never really think about. It's not always so easy to describe or explain it to someone else (I usually have to open the program up to remind myself).
