I am still running the old version of VSD because I am very paranoid of the compatability issues (image and links) mentioned in this forum. I have spent a massive amount of time on my site and do't have the time to fix these problems if they occur after upgrade.

I want to get the latest version. Can anyone put my mind at ease? Will I experience problems?

I am currently running version 5.9.4 on vista

Glenn,
Upgrading to VSD 6.0 did not work well for me. If you have any pictures that are displayed in your website more than once and in different size boxes, circles etc. you may have the same problem that I did. I have over 400 JPG pictures and each one is displayed once in a 100x100 square, then again in a 400x400 square. During the upgrade from 5.9, VSD 6.0 changed a large percent of my JPG pictures to thumbnail size files so now when they are displayed in the 400x400 boxes they are coming out fuzzy or out of focus. See this link for others comments. http://www.coffeecup.com/forums/visual-site-designer/vsd606-page-image-problem/

For now I have remained with VSD 5.9 while I am slowly copying and renaming my 400 plus picture files and then I have to go back into each VSD page and re-link these 400 plus picture to the new file names I just created. My website will now have over 800 JPGs. This was the work around offered by CoffeeCup.

I have installed the lastest version of Visual site designer and all previous templates (vnu) are GONE! I searched my whole hard drive and they are just not there. I have the 3 or 4 new ones that came with the upgrade but the older ones are gone...where or how can I get the old ones back? (for an example of the template I am talking about, you can see the one I used here: www.ljbalance.com) I was an idiot and did not do a restore point before I did the upgrade as well as I did a couple of upgrades at the same time so it would really frustrate me to have to reinstall all that software/upgrades again. Any ideas? Thank you. (I still love Coffecup software regardless).

Unless you placed your saved Websites in the c:\program files\CoffeeCup Software\CoffeeCup Visual Site Designer, they would still be in the original location where you saved them on your computer.

If you have deleted those files by accident, you can retrieve a backup of the VNU file off your server by manually FTP'ing into your server and go to the folder called "Backups". Here you will find a copy of the VNU file. Once you download that, open the file and then you will be prompted to locate all the additional files. Hopefully you still have those on your system too.

Thanks Scott! That helps for that issue but all the templates on my computer that came with the previous install are gone....so the only one that I still have from my previous install is the one I had on the web. I think I may have my very first ever CD that I got waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in 2000 or something like that. I think I coiuld install that on another computer and then copy/paste the vnu templates. My fault really..I should know better than to install anything w/out creating a backup first. But thanks for this tip..I needed it for the one I had up. Have a grrrreat weekend!

I've upgraded and am now totally regretting it. I've revamped the website and now I get a jumbled mess. I've tried 'remove published website' and then uploading, I get an upload error. I've tried resynch and that didn't work...I've used direct FTP 6.2 and it doesnt' seem that I can find the 'magic' file to make this all better. I really need a hand here....did I totally fubar buy trusting the new upgrade?!?!? I'm in a panic here..........

This is how the front page looks right now

I do have jpgs that are used in different pages but this should just not be happening.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
