The UAC is exactly the same as in Vista. You can turn it off by opening the Control panel - User account - click the user account you want to modify and select 'Change settings for UAC' (I don't know if these are the exact words in English, it's a free - but semantic - translation from my Norwegian OS).

Thanks. I was aware of that but was hesitant to alter the UAC in a way that might allow malware in.
