Typing winds up off center after...

I'm placing type centered over an inserted HTML box and when I upload it to my website the type always winds up a little to the left, and is no longer centered over the box. This throws the whole page off and looks amateurish. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong and how to correct it?
I have VSD version 6.0 Build 6, running on Vista.

Thanks, Linda

The quick way to possibly fix this, is stretch the active text box edges - right & left - so that they nearly touch the edges of your page. This will center the text in box on your web page and keep it there.

Somebody probably has some actual programing code to do this and will give you and answer doing it that way.

Also, it always helps to include a link to the page you're having trouble with so that we can see what it is you're dealing with.

If you use advanced text within the HTML box it will stay in place as well as remain the font you selected. With the box highlighted, click on Advanced Text and you can enter your text. However this does make the text a picture and difficult to copy/paste for visitors.
Otherwise try to leave the text box smaller than the HTML box by 20-25 pixels or so on both sides.

I haven't really pursued this issue in the past but I've had this same problem. Using the advanced text feature seems to correct the problem but your text won't be read by the crawlers if the text is related to something you want indexed for search.

I think the problem results from the text size being changed after the text has been entered the first time. Say you decide you want the text in a larger font - I think you have to delete the previous instance of the text and retype it in the proper size font. If you cut and paste the text you're just recreating the issue. It's a pain - I've resorted to many time creating a separate text file in notepad to keep my text in a basic non-formatted text file and then cutting and pasting THAT copy into VSDxx in the chosen font size.

This doesn't necessarily address the differences between display properties of the different flavors of browsers but it seems to work in most cases of the most popular browsers.

I think it's also relative to the resolution properties of the users browsers - check your websites browser metrics to see what the bulk of your users have their display properties set to.

You can actually with VSD create a box and insert the text using button text option

This works well never suffers the off centre problem, just takes more fiddling to get the spacing required
