I am having trouble adding external files into VSD. I go through the steps that I have done before to add files to the root and before it worked just fine. Recently, when i go to add files I add them and it says they are in there but after I press OK, when I go to add others the ones I added previously are gone. I dont know if there is a setting I need to change or what but the external code that I add that needs these files doesnt work without the files and I cannot figure out why the files keep disappearing. If anyone can help it would be great.

Are you adding folders or files to your site? If you add a folder to your site you must also add at least one file to the new folder to retain it.

I have no problem adding a folder and files into it. The problem I have is when I attempt to add just one file to the root folder (for example a favricon file). I add it then when I press ok it gets removed.

When you say 'root folder', is that the domain root folder on the server or the root folder that VSD creates when saving to your machine?

If it is the local root folder, that doesn't get uploaded, only the contents. And if you haven't been able to add the favicon, it won't get transfered to your server along with the pages. Try placing the favicon file in the subfolder of the local 'root', the one called 'files' and see if that works better.

If the file already exist on your server then you might want to delete the file off your sever that your trying to update using an external ftp program or by logging into your host cpanel. I've seen a few times on my own host if I had added the file to the server with another program such as the html editor then VSD wouldn't let me add the same file to my site.
