Textured background, solid color...
Hello! My apologies if this has been asked before but after a search of the forums I can't seem to locate this subject. I'm having trouble working the VSD, more precisely, I want to do a textured background with a solid white foreground, then text but I can't seem to find out how to do that. Also I can't seem to get the style properties to fill in my background or is that not possible? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you.
Your probably looking for a center design. Click on "Page" at the top of VSD. Now in the properties box that opens to the right select "Center Design". This will give you border on the left and right with a center panel. You'll be able to set the requirements for these through the page properties fir individual pages or at the top of VSD in the menu click on 'Setting" then "Background Fill Properties".
If you want it to change all your pages use the "Standard Setting for New Pages".

I can't hear what I'm looking at.

What you want to do is easily achieved. First, the 'Styles' option is used to 'fill' an object you create. You don't use it for the background.
Having said that, you can have a 'textured' background of any type you like. Look at the example I uploaded. There are many textures in CoffeeCup. Mine are located in documents/coffeecup software/graphics/backgrounds
There are also many free textures available on-line. Just google for them.
What you do is load an 'image' for the background. Then using the 'shape' tool on the left menu you create a shape the size you want for your foreground. Then add you 'text' on top of that shape.
Is this what you were trying to achieve ?? Pardon the 'red' square on the image, that was my bad
