Text just doesn't line up the way it...

I'm trying to build a relatively simple website where there is a list of items... and to the right of them are two download links.... example:

This would be line one MP3 INFO SHEET

Here's line two MP3 INFO SHEET

...and so on.

The PITA is trying to get the MP3 and INFO SHEET things to all line up vertically.

What I tried doing was creating a text box with my item lists... all in the same font/pixels. Then... creating a separate text box with all of the MP3's and another with the INFO SHEETs. However, they don't line up, despite being set to the same size... and where they do... they don't publish quite the same way.

Is this something that I have to do in some form af a table?? ...or do I now need to purchase an add on product? I've just purchased VSD in addition to the full version of HTML editor... but hope to not have to do manual editing to accomplish this (er.... isn't this WHY VSD exists to begin with?).

Thank you...

If you put text in separate boxes. Highlight both and right click on one and look at the align tool. Other than text blocks consider elements as individual objects. It took me a while to find out its foibles but once you do there is not much it cannot do. Full justification would be good but that will come. It has its own on board button and banner maker how good is that.

It publishes at a click of a button. It is almost perfect. I wont rattle my chain again on my wish list. Nah! I have my work arounds.

My method is to get the content on the page as fast as possible and do a preview to see what needs moving. I adjust and preview by page not site, that is the last stage. I am creating two sites per week with it and in some cases applications to go with it. Great piece of ware.

HI TC,
When working with text there's few special rules to follow.

If this doesn't solve your problem post back.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

The only problem with the suggested ideas is that I'd have to put a list of fifty items in as fifty separate objects or text lines. While that's nice, in theory, when I have to add a line item in between one of the others, I'd have to move ALL of the objects done, one at a time. Talk about a time consuming task!

Unless I'm missing something, it doesn't sound like there's an easy way of doing this!!

You can group items so you can move them all at once. Otherwise use a text editor and add the text to an html box.

The whole idea of using VSD was to simplify things.... So much for that idea. :)

It does. Try hand coding your entire site and then tell me that VSD doesn't make it easier.:)

This might be a project easier done outside of VSD, then inserted into the page with the HTML tool.

As Eric suggested:
Otherwise use a text editor and add the text to an html box.

This is really pretty simple, and you have more control over your text. I've used the HTML Editor to create bulleted lists with links. Save, copy, paste...
I found code examples on line to use, but I'm sure Eric could easily help you do this :D

I'm a visual, drag 'n' drop type, but was able to figure out how to do this – give it a try and you'll have the best of both worlds; quick, easy designing and total control over text, lists and menus ;)

Sure there's a few things that I wish VSD would do better but I can also say the same thing about the HTML editor or any other program I've used whether it was CC's or some other Companies. The best thing about using CC's programs is all the users here that pull their resources together and find the fastest work arounds until suggestions can be implemented. I have a page full of links inserted into a html box that I made with the HTML editor. As paintbrush stated, drag and drop. The one thing here is that at least there's a way to get it done.:)

I'm used to work arounds, as I've been using PC related programs since the release of the PCXT in 1984... I agree that VSD is easier, as I'm rebuilding a website I've gotten fed up with recoding what my predecessor did on it. I'm no web designer, by any means, but just have to get the feel for what I'm doing with this. Sorry if I look like a spoon fed infant... but I just have to get the routine down.

When I'm home tonight playing, I'll see what I can do with this and likely come back and ask more questions. Thanks for your patience...!
