Is there a way to make the Text Box or Shape background a color? I placed a text box on the page and entered the text but the page background shows. Then placed a box shape over it to get a border and could not set the shape background a color. Thinking I could bring the text to the foreground. I searched through the forum and it indicated that you should be able to do the border through the special effects on a text object. When I select the text box and open the special effects the special effects is grayed out, unusable, www.go2pro.org

Have you tried creating the shape first, and then placed a text box on top of it?

And as for special effects being greyed out; in the text dialogue box there is a check box for 'allow advanced text'. Click that, and the effects will be active.
