SWF FILES - How to deploy on VSD v.6...

Hi there,

I'm new to 'proper' (not on-line) website design - having made good use of Moonfruit to-date.

Am loving VSD 6.0 - however a key device for many of my sites is a Flash 'gallery' generated by Vertical Moon's Swf 'n' Slide. It is a single frame - wherein a series of images fade in and out of each other. It is a really powerful application, so would ideally like to be able to use its output.

The 'Flash' widget thing that comes with VSD seems only to be interested in .xml files.

Does the solution lie at all with the 'Add Files' thing?

I also use a text-Flash generator too - and these are also swf files.

The program I use can generate other than swf files - e.g. html - but I'd have no idea what to do with that.

Thanks in advance for your attention and help,

Failing that - would the Coffeecup photo gallery be able to recreate the effect? And can Coffeecup or any of its peripheral applications generate Flash text?

HI,
It's true the using the flash tool only works with the coffeecup software,
if you decide to use any other programs, and that program produces an html file and swf flash file, this can be added using the html tool, by copying the code and placing the code into the html box, then add your swf flash file using the add files located under the settings tab.

Example if you were to use Photo Gallery by CC then you would use the flash tool to locate the xml file and all the files would be added for you, there's nothing more to do at that point.

Your best bet would be to try the trial software you are inquiring about and see if it fits your needs.

I'm having the same problem! I just upgraded to VSD6.0 and I can't get a CC flash inserted that I created with FireStarter. I've tried inserting via HTML and pasting the code gererated, and I certainly can't take the Flash insertion route because it won't take CC's swf file

What do I do??? I'm using all CoffeeCup products.

RESOLVED
From Support:

1. Create and save the Flash within Firestarter.
2. Copy the HTML code to your clipboard.
3. Switch to Visual Site Designer.
4. Open the page where you want the Flash to display.
5. Click the HTML tool on the Toolbox on the left side of the workspace and then create an HTML object on the page.
6. Paste the code into the Body HTML tab.
7. Click OK.
8. Select Settings > Add Files.
9. Click Browse to search for the .swf file saved from Firestarter.
10. Click Add to add it to your .vnu.
11. Click OK.

NOTE by OP: The "Add Files" is from the top menu, not from the HTML insert dialog box. Move the SWF file via the Add Files. - Ed

I was trying to follow the above information for inserting the swf file by the add file method and have run into a bit of a problem.
When I get to the browse button and get to the location the SWF file is found I select this and click the open button to select the screen goes away and the previous screen comes back but no file is in the add file window.
Please let me know where i went astray, it happens many times a day:D

It should be when you find the swf you click on the "Add" button, then you click ok. Then you should be able to preview the project.
you click the html tool make a box the approximate size of your project, add your code, save it. then go to "Add Files" browse for your swf file, click add then ok. yeah twice I said it http://emoticons4u.com/fingers/fing25.gif

I think I suggested going to settings and selecting removes files and seeing if the swf is listed there, and if so remove it, and save, then go to add files and re-add the swf again and see if you can preview it. If so cool if not let us know.

Well I tried out firestarter and VSD 6 on an XP machine and it worked as it's supposed to. I also put the SWF file into Dreamweaver and it worked fine as well.
Just thought I'd let others know where my problem was, Win 2000
Thanks for the help, Wyndham

wyndham dennison,

Good point. Several times I have loaded CoffeeCup software on an old Win 2000 machine, and got lucky. CoffeeCup does not support Win 2000.

regular vsd features seem to work fine on win 2000 but when you get into the HTML and swf stuff I guess there maybe where the problem is. Dreamweaver even burbs on win 2000 in this same area.
