In VSD use the Add Flash tool to add whatever it is you want to add. Now when you make a change in the Flash app and save, all you have to do is open VSD and click upload. It finds all the changes and or deletions. You do not have to do anything other then upload.
The best way to do all this is to always save your Flash project to the VSD folder where your Website files are.

Scott, it asks for xml file when using Firestarter, that is not produced, correct? but other than that using the flash tool does add the nessesary files needed to make your flash work.

Scott, maybe that is my problem.
1 Where, exactly, does Coffee Cup suggest that I put these files? (In the nicest possible way, of course). Should every last file, all of the page ".html" files, all my images on each page, the VSD generated images, all of the Firestarter and JukeBox files all go into the mysite.vnu_website folder?
2 Why is there a folder under the vnu called "files"?
3 Why are there folders generated called mysite_files, mysiteJukeBox_file, and mysite_jukebox_files? Some of them are empty. Some contain the file we spoke about above. If I delete them they reappear. Have I told the software somewhere to create these? Can I tell it not to?
4 How should I clean up the mess I am in and start over without deleting my site (which is my band's site: html//www.uphilltheband.com/) "Remove Files" does not list the 40 .MP3 files I mentioned before.
I have had several interesting, informative, and helpful dialogues with your support people but none of them can point me to a place in the documentation or Help Files where all this is explained. It seems to me that the best place to get answers is this forum. It would be nice if there was some useful documentation.

Scott, I was in IT for 35 years (programmer, systems analyst, manager) I know how software is written. I know hard hard and expensive it is to write and keep current documentation that may never be read. I know how easy it is to let users debug a system and get each other out of jams. Now, however, I am on the customer side.

Bruce, yes it adds them. The problem is when I change stuff. It says right there that it will not add a file if it exists already.
Er, hello, Scott? Are we supposed to manually delete unused files or every file we think we might have changed before Add Files will deign to work?
And why does Add Flash not work for FireStarter?
I don't think so.

I understand that Bass, so what I do is remove save re-add, cause you can't just overwrite a flash and expect it to change the swf file, or even just add another version of the same flash. even flash menus dont do that.
sorry! Well with firestarter you will have to manually add the code and then use add files wizard for the flash file as mentioned, because it looks only for xml files which I'm pretty sure Firestarter does not make Bass

(Alice, did you try a prior suggestion to quit the program and restart it every now and then? It appears that the memory handling is not the best and memory gets eaten up.)
I bought the Designer Package. So far I have installed VSD, Firestarter, and JukeBox. Each program works fine on its own. Performs as advertised, etc. etc. However, it is a royal pain to integrate these things, especially after one has altered an effect and is trying to add the change to the web site. For example. I set up a juke box with about forty songs in it and uploaded it OK. Then I made a second one with seven songs. Even though I deleted all reference to the first one, VSD is still looking for the 40 mp3 files when I try to upload to the server. Keeps saying xxxxx.mp3 not found.
Same thing with the Firestarter flash effects.

I do try the save, close program reopen, however after I try to upload to internet, get the message "Out of Memory" the program freezes and I have to press Ctrl+Delete+Alt to close it. Lets just say after about the 20th time I no longer work from my easily thrown laptop!
Coffee Cup has asked for a screen shot of the message. Not sure what they are thinking to see as all that is there is a little box with Out of Memory and a button with OK in it. (clicking ok does not free up the program by the way) I went back through all my pics and did find one that had a space. I fixed that and was able to upload for the first time since December. However right after that I changed some stuff and could not upload. If any one knows of an easy to use program that will not break the bank I'd love to know about it. Don't care if I should learn to write html or not, I don't want to.
Thanks
Alice
does it make any difference if you close all un-needed programs, meaning use the windows manager to close programs running in the background before using VSD? ( ctrl+alt+delete once)

Lol, My sentiments exactly ..... Aren't most of your problems with uploading ? If so why not just buy Direct FTP or another FTP ? They don't cost a whole lot and are fairly easy to set up and use. I've only used the VSD FTP once (older version, it worked) but I like to have more control over what I'm uploading and if I only make a small text change to a page I only need to upload that one page not the whole site. Been using CC Direct FTP 6.2 without any major issues for a year now. There is a newer version now but I haven't gotten around to installing it yet.

Coffeecup does offer a free ftp program also, http://www.coffeecup.com/freestuff/
Nope makes no difference at all. My host does offer an FTP uploader, so I guess I will figure out how to use that or the one offered by Coffee Cup. Had not really thought about them. My struggle with VSD has/had become a do it or die battle and I developed tunnel vision
Thanks for the prod and reminder.
