Well, go figure, my website just uploaded successfully. Didn't change a thing. This was about attempt number 20! VSD has GOT to do better than this! Something in the program is just over sensitive.
It's very possible they don't have a response because they're not experiencing the same problems. I only say that because I've been testing updating and uploading more recently from these posts and everything uploads fine. In my view, I can't see what's wrong since it works for me, so how would I fix it if I were them? I don't know.
I do hope they get to log into one of your computers remotely and test it out from the problematic computer. I think that'd be ideal, so let's just keep our fingers crossed. I know it's frustrating guys, but honestly, if this were Micro$oft, we probably would get a Service Pack 2 years from now instead of trying to work with us within days/weeks. I think Vista's proof enough that even the biggest guys release stuff that should still be in beta.

This only gets stranger.
Out of frustration tonight I uninstalled VSD, rebooted, downloaded and installed a fresh copy.
I still have the same problems, only worse.
VSD will upload even less than before before stalling out.
Something else interesting; I tried to remove my published site (such as it is) thru VSD and I got an error message saying: An error occured when the program tried to delete som files. Try again later. (yes it was spelled som)
This is the first time I've seen that one!

I am having the identical same problems with uploading.
I should add that VSD crashes when I open my website, for editing, too, after I get an error saying that VSD cannot open the website in a dialog.
A workaround is: if you can save the site, then just use an ftp client to manually upload the files in the folder.
For example, if your site is named "zebra" then there should be in your save directory a folder called "zebra_website"
If you upload all of those files to your server, then you will, or should, have a working website.
My problem is: I cannot even get the site completed or modified because I cannot even reliably open it.
Hope this helps.
Hope this and the crashes with HTML 2008 get fixed soon, and CC is more careful on releases in the future.

Well well well, just got a call from CC to ask me some questions about my problems and to tell me they were now online with my home PC, here's the resulting message I got from them
Hello Boyd,
I tested your website and was able to make a connection to the server by unchecking the Passive mode setting and removing the '/' character before the wwwroot foldername. Now, the upload is interrupted each time when it gets to "C30COMHeader.gif", which leads me to believe there is something corrupt in this image. I looked around your computer and tried re-saving it in Paint to possibly generate new headers but this didn't help either. The only other option I can provide is to try using http://www.gimp.org/ to re-save the image. You should also resize the image to the exact size needed before you insert it to the page (in this case 1215x161). Let us know if you continue having problems.
Hmmm, the old "corrupt image" ploy.
Seems to be a lot of that going around lately, I wonder what could be causing it.
I'll try re-saving the header image tonight and post my results, hope this is of help to some of you with similar problems.
BTW, if we must save our pics at exactly the right size before importing, why does VSD even give us the option of re-sizing?

Hey, if you would care to share that .gif in question, I could throw it on my site and try to upload. At least that would answer whether or not it really could be that specific .gif. Whatcha think? We could see if my contact form receives attachments while we're at it.

Adam, thanks for the kind offer but the .gif isn't the problem.
I deleted the file in question, saved my site and re-uploaded, this time it stalled on another picture file.
I repeated the process and it stalled on yet another image.
AAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGHH!
These, with the exception of the header are all pics that were on my site for months previous to this.
I will send you the .gif anyways...hope it doesn't "corrupt" your system

With similar problems plus VSD crashing, I was told to do the following:
restart computer
uninstall
restart computer
resinstall
test
that did not help anything.
then, I ws told it was a problem with my gfx-probably set to something other than 120 pixels per inch or 72 ppi.
I hand-opened every .gif and .jpg and confirmed that they are all 72 dpi. I also reduced their size using Coffeecup Pix converter with "My Website" settings.
No effect.
I cannot even get my website to open, much less to upload it.
Very, very frustrating.
Xsite Pro 2 is looking better and better...

Me Too, Me Too!
I have two sites. One (www.uphilltheband.com) is large and has a bunch of pages including a juke box. This one uploads just fine. The other (www.raputtak.com) is just one page with two tiny text boxes on it. Both sites are hosted at godaddy under the same user name and password. The second one will not upload. It keeps saying "needs a password" even though I put the correct password in the password box.
I agree with all of the above posts re this software.........

I have an inferiority complex - but it is not a very good one.
I don't know who came up with the DPI stuff ..... I have made a large majority of the images on my site and always use 200 DPI as my default. I've had no problems with using them other than the "large file" warning if it is too big in size. I use Direct FTP for uploading and have not had any trouble. The only trouble I had when I updated to version 5.9.1 was that it wouldn't overwrite certain files which were created in version 5.8 when I made changes and did a save. The changes were not saved and the date on the files stayed the same. The work around for that was to rename the whatever_website folder, open VSD and do another save, this created another whatever_website folder which had the correct changed files, so I just deleted the old folder. The 5.9.1 VSD "save" function now works correctly for me.
I last time I used the VSD FTP was in version 5.8 and it worked good, I just like having more control over the uploading process so I bought Direct FTP and have been using that to upload.
I'm going to stick to version 5.9.1 for now, at least until some of the problems with 5.9.4 are ironed out.
