Still unable to upload from VSD -...

Calling all VSD experts...
I posted about this yesterday and contacted customer support today.
I'm guessing they are backed up from the long weekend but it took most of the day for them to email me with a suggestion that didn't work.
My other problem is that I only have access to my home PC during the evenings.
I'm having huge problems with VSD hanging when trying to upload jpgs.
I've tried with my firewall off, in passive mode, tried dumping all my files and re-syncing, deleting jpegs that I saw VSD hanging on, re-installing, re-registering, renaming my jpgs and nothing is working.
I've been a happy VSD user since last year...I'm not now
I've been successfully updating my site weekly since December, that is until the last couple of VSD revision which for me have been somewhat problematic.
I'm running VSD v5.94 on a PC using XP, if anybody has any ideas, I'm all ears!

Well, when all else fails, I'd usually recommend uploading with an external FTP app. However, that doesn't really answer the question as to why it's not working and you lose the "changes only" uploading.

Got an email from CC instructing me to copy and paste a couple of .dll's into my windows 32 folder...still doesn't work.
If CC is going to offer a product like VSD which I assume is aimed at web design neophytes like myself I wish they would wait until it is out of beta before general release.
Judging by the number of posts, and hits on the posts about this topic I have a hard time believing mine is an isolated problem.
I was quite happy for a long time with some of the older versions of VSD and I'd still be happy if I could just roll-back and reinstall one of the older versions that actually works but apparently that's not an option.
...There, I feel better now.

I am using VSD 5.9.4 and the upload is flawless from both an XP machine and a vista one to several different hosts. Can you post a URL for the site where the trouble is occurring. T

Troubleshooting the problem you are having, I would begin by trying to upload a very simple site and see if the problem persists if not then it is something in your original site. If the problem continues then maybe your installation is the problem and an uninstall and reinstall of the VSD software from a fresh download would resolve.

To be sure there are many great sites being uploaded daily using VSD 5.9.4 so the problem is resolvable it will just take time and a systematic effort to find your particular solution.

Tom, thanks for the reply.
I have no doubt that trying a "simple" website upload would work.
VSD is uploading all of my text and some of my photos.
The problems only started happening once I uploaded VSD v 5.9.
I think I may have been one of the first to upgrade to that version and had problems right from the start; CC told me it was because I was on a Windows based server and offered me a fix which worked perfectly.
I then upgraded to VSD v5.94, thats when the real problems started.
I've tried fresh installs, firewall off, passive mode, uploads, resyncs, .dll mods (on the advice of CC) reregistering etc. all to no avail.
The site I'm having troubles with is www.catalinathirty.com.
Its a site I put together to document the restoration of our sailboat, my other site is for my business and I don't dare do any upgrades to it for fear of the same problems.

A suggestion that might be worth a try....if the site previews using your default browser OK on your home computer.

Create a new directory on your host in the public_html directory...something like www.catalinathirty.com/test..
then upload your entire site to this new directory using VSD 5.9.4 and see if it hangs up again. BTW who is hosting your website?
Let me know what happens.
Tom

PS I would change my user name to some other than my email to avoid the spammers...

Tom, thanks again!
I'll try your suggestion this evening after work.
As I recall the site did preview okay.
My site is hosted on Dotster.

I wouldn't expect love for software to be unconditional. I take it the suggestions didn't help. :( If a previous version worked fine for you, maybe something could be worked out. I honestly don't know their policy on offering previous versions though.

Looks like lots of folks are having problems with the 5.9.4 version. I'm still running the .1 version and haven't had a lot of problems with it, but then I usually use the CC FTP to upload the changes I make if they are only small ones. I Think I did use the VSD FTP to upload once and it worked okay if I'm not mistaken, it just takes a loooonnnnng time.
I'm going to hold off on installing the .4 version until you good CC folks find out what is going on.
What is the difference between the .1 and .4 versions anyway ??
