StatCounter / Goog Analytics Code...
VSD 5.9.4
I suppose I'm going about this right. I open the saved html VSD page in My Documents with Notepad and insert the Javascript code for Statcounter and Google Analytics or any code for that matter. Click save. Using the html tool in VSD, I cant seem to place the code at the bottom of the page as recommended. Inserting with Notepad will do this.
I've already found out that I need to upload with a stand alone FTP to maintain the code I've inserted with Notepad, I'm using Filezilla.
Now, here's my question. If I want to change or update any of my pages in VSD it always asks - or I save the page. Upon doing so it saves all the pages again. This wipes out the code inserted on all the pages with Notepad. Can I save just one page and reinsert the code again keeping the remainder of the pages intact ?
I'm really not up to speed on html yet. I do have CC HTML Editor.
Uploading or saving within VSD wipes out the Notepad inserted code. Of course I do have the intact files on the server I could download / overwrite the VSD one on my hard drive with some addl editing.
I've reviewed these forums and some folks are using counters and other code. It looks like not all script can be placed properly with the VSD html tool ?
Is there any way to save script inserted with Notepad ?

Hi Steven,http://emoticons4u.com/happy/457.gif
I'm thinking that the code your using in Notepad has to be inserted into VSD with the html tool, otherwise VSD will not recognize any changes made. This would be like using diret ftp , going on your server to add coding, which is fine and dandy but again, the next VSD upload it won't show, which is basically what your doing here. So my guess is no you cannot save any script inserted from any other program other then copying it into VSD using the html tool.
Counters and javascripts can all work in VSD, except of course scrollbars colored. But google Analytics and Statcounter will all work and if statcounter doesn't it's on them, I find some of them don't!

Steve,
I'm using StatCounter in all my designs (the invisible style).
In the page where you want to add the StatCounter code, add HTML code (using the button on the left sidebar in the software). Create a tiny square in the corner of your page using the mouse. When the HTML Code window opens, give it a name (I called it Counter) and paste the StatCounter code into that window and click OK.
Now SAVE the project (you can't save only one file in VSD) and upload it.
Done.

Thanks for the info. I'll give the html tool another shot. I'll put it even lower in the page and see how it saves.

I see you have StatCounter on the home page only. Try to insert it on the other pages below all links and see if the html tool works.
I could not get it inserted below the all the links on the page. Doing so of course reports when those links are opened.
Let us know how it works out.
