Hi,
I am trying to include a rectangular shape through some titles on my website (like a basic version of the one above with Home>Software and Web Design etc)
It looks really great in VSD but when I upload it and go onto the website and check it, the rectangle will have moved a few milimetres, taking it completely off centre with what I want it for.
Is there anything I am missing? My website is www.justinbrownguitar.com but I have removed the rectangle I spesk of until I find out what was wrong!!!
Thanks in advance for your help. I have searched the forum but couldn't find anything. I think it may be too noob for even the noobiest noob!!!
Anyway.
Cheers.
J

Anyone?
Pretty new myself, but I'll throw something out there to check on... All browsers have a 'default margin' setting. I'm not sure if it's the same with all or not, but it's somewhere around 8 pixels. If you don't specify your margins, that may be what's skewing your output.

Can't tell what's going wrong with the rectangle's positioning if the rectangle isn't there.
Ha ha. I don't want to have it on there when it isn't correct!!
All that's happening is I will put it over the text to highlight the Title. Then when I go to preview it it hs moved about 1 - 2 cms away from where I put it.
If the title and rectangle were to stay where they are permenantly then it would not be a problem. I would do trial and error until it is right and leave it, but every time I add new content the titles are moving to a new position so I will have to do this every time.

Justin,
Sometimes, looking at the code that creates the problem is what it takes to figure out what is wrong.
Another option is to put the problem page in a test folder, then your viewing public will never see it, and you can provide a link to the problem.
Or you could create a video of the problem occurring so that someone can spot a possible problem, or replicate the issue.

Hi,
OK I have an example here.
I have set it up perfectly in VSD so the Beginners, Advanced beginners and Intermediate are all perfectly within the rectangles.
I call them rectangles because I really don't know what else to call them!!! You will see what I mean but here it is. Any help will be really gratefully recieved

Hi Justin,
Just out of curiosity did you use the "advanced text" option or some other way of adding the text/link to your shape, I tried button text, putting a check in the "allow advanced text", even just placing the text and making a link and can't come up with anything like yours. Could you give us more details on how YOU did it? Also did you upload using VSD's built-in ftp or other?

thanks

Sure.
I just typed the text in as normal using the text tool.
Then using the shapes tool, I selected thew first option which is a square and made the shape over the Beginner title. I then copy and pasted twice and moved the others down above the Advanced Beginner and Intermediate.
My VSD stopped allowing me to upload ages ago. It just suddenly stopped working and after countless calls to Coffeecup and my host Lunar pages, it was never sorted. So I use the FTP File Manager in my Control Panel of Lunar Pages.
Hope this is enough. It is not the end of the World if I have to go without them, but it is annoying that it won't place it where I want it to!!!!

Hi Justin,
In my example, I didn't copy and paste,I just made the shape first and then typed in the text, highted it, made it a link to where ever, and it seemed fine.
could you try it that way and see what happens? or you could try making the links first then your shape over them afterwards and usingthe object tool move the shape back, and that should work also, I think it will something to do with the copy and paste thingy. I will give your way a try.
Justin I have lunarpages also and I'm having no problems uploading, can I help you with this? After all It's always best to use the built-in ftp whenever possible.
