Ohhhh....I was so excited when Scott mentioned that it wouldn't change the file names anymore! Because I've been Soooooo frustrated with that! But then Chad says it still does it....sigh......hmmm....I'll test it out next time I add a photo.

Hi Scott,

You've created great software and should be very proud of it, overall.

As for the name changes, I am using 6.06 and its still doing this for me. When I upgraded, I deleted all the images from my "_website" folder, because this causes VSD to re-sample and then re-save them when you save your website. I then re-uploaded the website.

It is still converting the file names on the JPEGS on my end. Perhaps I am doing something wrong...

What you need to do is completely re-add the image into VSD using the original file name and then it will then preserve the name. Unfortunately this will not work automatically, each image needs to be re-added one by one. I know that is a pain, but at least the issue is fixed ;)

So you're saying that I need to delete each image I have now from the website file folder? Then, put it back in? Or do I need to re-add each image to each page? Cuz THAT would be a pain. Just putting it back in the folder isn't awful, albeit annoying.

You need to delete the image from inside of VSD, not from the folder, and then re-add it back into VSD using the original file name. This then has to be done for each image. I know it is a pain, but if you want VSD to keep the original file names, the image must be re-added back it.

Scott,

I did as you suggested, deleted the individual images from VSD (took FOREVER), and then re-added them from scratch and then uploaded and re-synced the entire site, cleared my cache, refreshed my page, and the images are STILL being re-named "Image_1" "Image_2" etc....

What am I doing wrong?

Along those lines, it would nice to see VSD import graphics using the pixel dimensions they are saved at, rather than getting a skewed image each time you add a graphic and having to set the correct pixel dimensions manually. I can re-post this in the other forum if you want.

How are you adding the images? Are these being added as a shape, as a background image, as fill or just as a normal image? For me here, all 4 of these options still always preserve the file name.

We really need a lot more information, so probably best to open a support ticket and send the files to us with the exact steps you are taking with adding the image. If you have the ability to record a video, that really helps us pinpoint the problem.

When you send the files, also send separately the images that are getting renamed and on what page they go on, so we can add them here and see what is going on.
