saving with VSD, always needing to...

Everytime I work on one page, another page seems to change. So then I must re-upload the other pages as well. I'm not sure why that is. And is there a way to save just the page I'm working on, instead of it re-saving the entire website each time?

I drag and drop to the ftp server in windows explorer.

Are you editing the page in Visual Site Designer?
When adding or removing images or text (any object) it would need to be saved in VSD. Images are kept in your files folder. Visual Site Designer also makes (if you noticed on your server) a db file which keeps track of the changes made to your website pages, documents, etc;.
So if you made a change that file will be checked offline as well as online and remove whatever it is from that db file. So it's always best to use the built-in ftp in Visual Site Designer for a more accurate upload. With that said uploading the way you are is ok but the changes will reflact in the files folder as well for any images added or removed. therefore you cannot at this time just upload a single page without upload at the very least the files folder. I hope I explained this correctly.

So if i use the built in ftp it will upload ALL changes, without actually uploading the entire website? I do always have to re-upload the files folder....but not just that...I actually have to go and upload almost all the pages in my website, because for some reason the images appear all funny after I work on ONLY one page!

But maybe I'll try the built in ftp....is it difficult to set up? I'll go look at it now.

When I click re-sync website under upload, it just sits there forever saying it's sending website....it wouldn't let me test the internet connection before. Did I set up something wrong?

Ok, so I tested the internet connection, and it said

"Testing Server and logon...OK"
"Testing folder creation...OK"
"Testing uploads....error"

Error: cannot execute, not yet connected.

What does that mean?

Hi Tonya,
using the built-in ftp when you click upload after you save a change it will go through your pges to see whats been changed then upload only that one page or pages, even though it looks like it's uploading everything.

When you use the other ftp do you load your files into a public_html folder on your server? If I may ask whom are you hosting with?
