OK, my first real website is up on the server and ready for the world to see.
csaltc.com

I want to add header and keyword information, but that is all new to me. Can someone post an example of what kind of text/code goes in the Header information?

Also, I want to add keywords/metatags...
1) Is there a limit to how many?
2) Do they need to be separated by commas?
3) Do multiple word strings need to be in quotes?
4) Do they need to be in some kind of html code too?

I want to do all this in VSD, so please reply as if that's how you'd be doing it too.

Thanks for all the great support here.

For your keywords and descriptions, you can do that in "edit" / "edit keywords and descriptions".

Is there a limit?....in a sense, yes. Keywords have been ubused, so use then only as they fit the content of your page. Repeating the word "horses" 525235 times just to get a better search listing for things about "horses" won't work. Use the same words found on your web page, and even if using strings, try not to repeat any word more than 3 times.
Keywords can be separated by commas. For strings, just omit the commas...no quotes needed that I know of.

If you want to say more than the single words, use the "description" which can be a 'short' paragraph, or better to find one sentence that describes what your page is about. Abuse of 'meta tags' will hurt your SEO more than lack of using them. They are no longer as important to search engines as they used to be because of the overuse or abuse of them.

As for the "Header" Information, well, that can be a lot of things.
Tipical Header info can include style sheet information, tags relating to encoding (even tho they are 'meta' tags) and even the "title" that you see at the top of a browser's window or 'tab' that says something about the web page. You can also have information on using javascripts and links to outside style sheets

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"/>
<title>Quiz Answer Sheet WHMIS</title>
<script type="text/javascript" src="swfobject.js"></script>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="index_style.css" type="text/css">

That is an example of some stuff that could be inside of a "Header information" area.
Hope this helps. I can be a bit confusing at first. Start with the keywords, and a short description. Those are the things that can help somewhat with search engines. The Header information is only needed if you are using it, such as the link to an outside style sheet, but VSD does not produce one anyway.

Thank you so much. I knew where to add them from the Edit menu, I just couldnt find a good example of "how" to add them. It doesnt say to separate the words with commas or not, and I'm a noob, so I didnt know.

And doesnt VSD kinda create an internal style sheet in the html for each page? Im still learning about all this, and my statement may seem idiotic, but I am learning something everyday, thanks to you guys.

If you look at the source of this page, you can see examples of meta tags for keywords and description.

Yes, VSD uses what is called an embedded style sheet which appears in the head of the page within style tags. It also uses inline styling which is styling directly within tags on the page.

For instance, you may have a font tag with inline styling being used to describe the look of the text.

Good job on the website. I did notice that it states "e-marketing" and "web development" (top right on many pages), but I can't find a page that talks about either of those, and role your software has in those.
Cary is correct about VSD using style sheet on the page.

Thank you for the kind words. And yes, those sites and other info are coming. csaemarketing.com is live but not quite finished yet.

My company callcsa.com does all that kinda of work, but the eMarketing service is new, and we are just getting it set up.

I'm using CC software to do it all, and having a blast.

Yes, thats a problem. I will eventually replace that whole site too. I tested the CC Video tool last night and had some initial success, altho I did get that 103 error.

This is one of the reasons Im replacing my sites, because the existing CF sites are difficult for me to maintain.

ooooo, brrrrrrr.....cold fusion.....left you cold did it?
There are some free conversion tools that could be used to get the video file into a .flv file and avoid the entire I/O 103 error problem. Riva free flv converter is one that comes to mind. Just 'google' it. You can use the .flv file it produces in the Flash Video thing skins from CoffeeCup and avoid the entire 103 error problem....until CC figures out why only some of us have that issue.
