Problems with FTP Settings - Post ID...
Got the software today, i just cannot get the FTP setting right.
If i put public_html in my WWW folder setting, i get this.
Testing Server and Logon: OK
Testing Folder Creation: ERROR
ERROR: an expected error has occured.
If i put nothing in the WWW Folder setting:
Testing Server and Logon: OK
Testing Folder Creation: OK
Testing Uploads: ERROR
ERROR: an expected error has occured.
The funny thing is: If i enter a wrong Username, i still get
Testing Server and Logon: OK
Does the FTP Uploads actually work?
My FTP setting (Server, user and password) all works with a normal FTP programme. And i have allowed access to the VSD as well as the FTP.DLL through my Antivirus Programme and Firewall programme.
I love to start a ticket, but as i am new, i do not even know where to start a new ticket.
Thanks
Cecil

Cecil, if no one comes up with anything in the forum, you can ask for help here:

That's in the Get Support section of the site (see links at top).
I had a glitch with one site that wouldn't upload from VSD, but I kept trying it anyway before I'd go to my outside FTP program. I'll never figure it out, but one time it just worked right out of VSD and it's kept on working ever since!

I don't use the program, but try this:
public_html/
add the forward slash to the end and see if that works, a few of the other programs take it that way so maybe this one does too.

Just got a new computer - WIndows 7
Trying to make changes to a site and get the following error message
Testing Server and Logon: OK
Testing Folder Creation: ERROR
Worked fine on the older computer running XP.
Is VSD compatable with Windows 7 Pro?

Cecil,
Getting the FTP settings right was one of my problems too. You need to use the file folder that the web site resides on the server. Mine happens to be httpdocs, some may be httpsdocs, publicdocs, or whatever but the folder that holds the site is where you want to point the FTP setting to. I also find that I need to be signed in to the server to make the test or upload work.
Good Luck

I am an absolute beginner, have just started using VSD and have nil experience with website design so this may be a dumb question but here goes anyway.
I can't seem to get the FTP settings right and when I press test button, the logon and server comes up as OK but it has three messages that say something like
ERROR: www.mywebsite.com.au not found.
My host states that the folder for the website pages is /httpdocs.
Does this mean that in the FTP information box where it says WWW, I should just write httpdocs or should I write mywebsite.com.au/httpdocs or www.mywebsite.com.au/httpdocs?
Any assistance would be great
Regards
Dave

You would just enter in /httpdocs if that is the folder where your files need to be stored.
