PNG file not wysiwyg - Post ID 158898
Hi,
Total newbie here, well to coffeecup anyway.
So I want my logo at the top of my page. Made it in Illustrator, saved as png with transparent background. Logo is black type with 2 little spots of red and one of blue. Drop image into VSD and I get a black rectangle with the 3 little color spots displaying correctly.
Played around with other file types and saved diff ways same result. On a lark I decided to try Preview, and there it shows up fine!
What am I doing wrong? I need to see it to move stuff and size it correctly.
thanks,
Paul

Paul - Your not doing anything wrong! That's just the way PNGs display within the VSD program. What you see in the preview is how it will look online - transparent where the black box is now.
If the black boxes bug you too much while you're working on it, you could use some shapes/text in VSD to make place-holders for the PNG files and just delete them and add the actual files before uploading.
Or, just keep working and maybe you'll learn to ignore the black backgrounds - they hardly bother me anymore!

Also - with PNG files, it's best to size them before bringing them into VSD. They'll stay crisp and looking good. Re-sizing within VSD can cause some weird stuff to happen to PNG files. I would suggest making a few different versions of your files; for example: my-logo, my-logo-small. Then just add the appropriate size where needed.

Thank you. I made myself nuts trying to compensate for the black background. Never thought to preview it. Displays just fine in the preview.
