Hi -

Happy Holidays!

I am looking to update an existing site, originally the site's artwork was done in Photoshop, now the client would like a change that is big enough for me to redo most of the code (mostly though it is adding new navigation which will force a move of pages & links). The navigation is image driven not text. So I was thinking this might be a good time to purchase & use VSD to help me reconstruct the site.

Can I take photoshop files into VSD to start the imagery work or does everything have to be recreated within VSD not allowing me to use the current artwork?

Any links or additional info/videos on how to - would be great!

thanks
Joy

Hi Joy,
You can use Photoshop to create/edit your graphic items and photos, then use the save for web feature to optimize and convert to either JPG or PNG files. Then you can use the insert image tool in VSD to put them on your web page.
I usually work with VSD and Photoshop open side by side :)

Hiya Joy,

In order to use VSD you will need to recreate your site(s) from scratch. You cannot import things into VSD from other site pages, but you can use the images that you used on it to recreate it or replace them with whatever you want etc.

On this page you can find articles about any program that CoffeeCup develops and it does have a pretty nice search facility for finding what you are looking for in the articles.

Good luck and give the Trial version a spin and see how it all works. Even though you need to start from scratch, you may find that the program is pretty nice and just what you need, or at least if you trial it and don't like it you won't have wasted your money :)

If you're looking to work with the code you should also trial the HTML Editor which is a pretty robust program too.

Good luck and holler at us if you have other questions :)
