After much frustration with page anchors in a long text page in my site I finally had success in placing my first "top of page" link and anchor on this page
http://www.inspectorhomes.ca/Standards.html
My problem is that in order for this "top of page" link to be positioned at the bottom of the text in preview or on the live site I had to drag it about 13 lines up on top of the text that I see in VSD. I now want to add links from the headings in the table of contents - "2.1. Roof" etc down to the individual paragraphs. The position of these will need to be precise and it is turning out to be guess work.
Questions:
1. When I place the html boxes for the links and anchors why are they not in the same position in preview as they are in VSD?
2. Can those code boxes be positioned in relation to the text?
3. Why, after I've clicked the top link on the site does the address bar become http://www.inspectorhomes.ca/Standards.html#topofpage? What will the address bar do when there are 10 or more links around the page?
Thanks for your help. CC software has been GREAT so far.

page anchors and position in VSD
Inspector,
I have done this successfully on my site for the FAQ section on the right hand side of the page:
http://www.sprucepinedesign.com/
You are welcome to view my source code and follow my example.
Nonetheless, here are answers to your questions:
1-Because HTML has a mind of it's own. When you code in HTML you are no longer using VSD. Embedding html can ruin a VSD site if the code if not written correctly. I would need to SEE what you are talking about to give you advice any more specific than that.
2-I don't know what you mean.
3-The # is the html code for an anchor. Why would anything happen after ten links?
There is also another thread that helped me figure all this out:

I'm happy to provide more support if needed, but your question would be better in the development forum. Moderators please don't move this thread before this person sees that its being moved.
