Overlappping Issues - Post ID 129512
I seem to be having a problem lately with items overlapping incorrectly. One small example would be : http://www.sacredhearthattiesburg.org/Stewardship.html - here the text should just overlap the picture, but instead it looks like the text is in a box.... the text usually has a transparent background. It did it on another page two - http://www.sacredhearthattiesburg.org/S … tice.html. Both of those examples I used the Advanced text feature with effects. In general, lately I am having trouble with any image or text that is layered. If I layer two images the one on the bottom usually does not show correctly or the text looks boxed. I have never had this problem until recently. I mean if you look at the homepage of that site you can see that whole page is pretty much nothing but layers and it does fine, but in the last week or so everytime I try to do something like that it does not work properly. I am not doing anything different. I especially seem to have issues with images be layered with effects. Anyway, I am getting a little frustrated. Does anyone else have this issue? And do you have any suggestions?
As a side note: I have VSD on two computers and am having issues on both. I even reloaded VSD at home. It didn't help. I don't feel I am doing anything differently than I have been doing for the last year.

Have a read through this thread:

You're using some non-web standard fonts on your site. When others don't have those same fonts on their computers, they'll see a default font instead. In my case, paragraphs run off the web page or fall behind other items because the substituted font is not the same size as your fonts:

Thanks Paintbrush - that second thread you suggested was very helpful. I need to go make some changes
I do a lot of copy and paste, so I can see where that would be a problem for me. A little more effort would cause less headaches later. Have a good one!

Good deal! I hope you get it all sorted out now!

Paintbrush - We've had this conversation before about the multiple images clogging our computers. I appreciate your description of how they multiply in the Files folder.

However, unlike you, I have deleted them from that folder several times and they come running right back. I'm up to 151 now! I wonder what step I am missing. I just select them, right click, and delete. Are you saying any magic words or waving a wand?

I think the only way to keep them from getting out of hand is to not copy/paste images and graphics. Once you have the background and page background copied to all the site pages, you would then add all the graphics/images from their original file folders (insert image tool). So, open a page, add a logo, etc..., open the next page and do the same.
But that's a pain in the @$$.
I go ahead and add (with the insert image tool) any graphic items that will appear on all pages to my index page (but don't apply effects to them). Then do the add page and have it copy the index page. Next would be to insert photos or items specific to certain pages. Last thing would be to apply effects (like drop shadows) if I wanted them. So far, so good.
But I always end up moving things around, and every time a change is made and saved, there's another IMG file created. So that's where I try to stay on top of things - after I've messed around with a page and have things in order, I go clean up the VSD Files folder. Don't forget you can shift-click and highlight a bunch at one time to delete (as long as they're all together). Often I do get lazy and let them build up, or I go ahead and copy/paste a few things. If they're small files I just don't worry about them.
As long as your site loads quickly, that's what really matters.
No magic wand....just a big mouse over the delete button!

I have been using the insert image tool rather than copy and paste. Like you, I make a lot of changes to get the image right where I want it. This results in a new image file for each move. And, I just discovered, whenever I click my cursor on the page to activate the image tool, a white point is placed there which requires its own image file (238 kb) - just that little dot! But as I said above, deleting them from the file folder doesn't work -- they appear to be mine forever.
And now some of them are migrating to pages where they don't belong, showing up as weird distortions of their former selves...I am in the support tech queue on that one.

I hope they get it figured out for you. The "normal" duplication is annoying enough!

The answer from tech support was to save the whole site to a new folder, remove the first site, and upload the new. I did this and the distortions disappeared -- briefly -- until I made one small change on one page. They reappeared.
The only solution I am told is to wait for the next version of VSD, since this overlapping image problem is a known issue that they are working on. Many many hours went into this project, so I find this frustrating indeed.
