Hiya Alan,

Did you not read Scott's post above? He gives you explicit instructions on where to get the files to upload.

For those who don't realize it, VSD's publishing method, is basically a FTP uploader, but it is not able to use Yahoo's new explicit security protocol, and therefore it does not have an easy publishing method for it. To publish to Yahoo's server, now I have to perform a Website Preview, find the leftover files used from that preview, and then use Filezilla (which just recently incorporated the EXPLICIT security protocol). And hope that I found the correct files, and that I have FTPSed them to the correct files in Yahoo's Server.

CC's whining that they can't update VSD to comply with new server requirements shows a real problem with their commitment of support for their product. FTPS support is available with most other Web Design programs that I have checked out. I have created several other Websites, that I made the mistake of designing with VSD.

And, "just switch to another Server:" My Site is way too big to move -- and it grows bigger every week -- by fifty to sixty MBs.

From your post Alan, I can clearly see you took no time to read what I said and again are making assumptions on our behalf. We are not whining, complaining, or failing to support our customers. Just like when your mother told you that you could not have that second cookie, she still loved you. The same goes for sFTP. No, you cannot have that Alan, but we still love you. Well love may be a strong word for you specifically, but may work for other users overall. ;)

You are also going about it all wrong Alan. Completely wrong. In my last post I even mentioned how to do this. When you save your website, everything is automatically exported into the _websites folder. Just go into that folder and upload the contents. Why you are doing a preview to obtain that data I don't get. You are making it way to complicated!

Moving a website is easy. All you do is change the publishing destination. Takes all of 10 seconds to do. If that is not an option, then you know what you have to do now. Further complaining won't change that fact here. ;)

Alan, I think it would make more sense for Yahoo to continue to support FTP and not to lock it's users into FTPS. My server at GoDaddy does not do that. I don't think it is fair to expect CoffeeCup and probably other software companies to change all their software just to satisfy Yahoo. Much easier for Yahoo to continue to support FTP. They made the decision not to. Have you asked them why they locked you out??

CC isn't whining Alan, they are stating a fact and nothing more. Right now Yahoo is the only hosting company that is "explicitly" requiring their users to use FTPS, there are no other main stream hosting companies that I have heard of that are requiring that, and it's shear stupid of them to do so.

There is no way I would redesign my entire program to accommodate one stupid company ... ONE ... not many, that require it. Yes many "allow" you to choose, but only Yahoo is giving you NO CHOICE! You're barking up the wrong pole here Alan, you should be on Yahoo's case for not giving you any choice in this matter. I don't think you will find any software company that would jump through that "explicit" hoop for ONE company's stupidity. Pretty simple..... Do as Scott said.... GET A REAL HOST!

I bet if you ask nicely, and send CC your website files folder nicely zipped up, they would load it onto SDRIVE for you.

then a quick change in your Google and Yahoo webmasters tools, with a simple re direct and you will not only be back where you started, but also save yourself the cost of your Yahooo hosting account every year, or is yahoo hosting FREE ?

However its even easier just to select the sdrive account within VSD, put your email address and password in, click publish and go for dinner.

Yes theres a bit of tinkering to get your url in place, I have even put instructions for that in a thread in SDRIVE domains

And i bet yahoo support is not as good as CC, and do they have a bunch of helpful users in their forum, i doubt it.

Good luck, choice after all is all yours now, even though it is yahoo who have forced you into making one.

I have 2 sites hosted on Yahoo. When I make small changes/updates, I log in to my Yahoo account, go to file manager and use the file uploader... just browse to the page, photo, whatever and click. Done.

For major changes, use an FTP Program that supports sFTP and drag/drop the whole site over to the server window (so you don't have to worry about missing something).

By the way... Does Direct FTP have this capability?

Well then, it just got even easier :)
OK, it's not as convenient as clicking Publish in VSD, but it gets the same results.
