I have a new site that I'm trying to upload. After setting the FTP account settings and running a test everything posts as OK. Click on Save the settings, click on Publish, but when I try to upload the site the FTP box appears and no where in the box are the new settings for this site. Then within a few seconds VSD crashes.
I can upload other sites w/o problem, in fact one site to the same server. This one has me puzzled.
I am running Vista, VSD 7.18, registered user, and IE 8.

I had this problem and it was my password that was wrong.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

Thanks Eric, I tried changing it on the server site then VSD and still the same problem. Copied the user name and password directly from my server page. Even after this change when the FTP box comes up it does not have the new site listed.

Try this.

1. Close VSD
2. Go to Start > Run and type regedit and hit enter.
3. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\CoffeeCup Software\ and delete the Visual Site Designer folder.
4. Reboot
5. Now try to add your FTP account again.

Note, this process will delete all FTP accounts.

Scott-

Followed your directions to a tee and as always, it worked. :)
Got the new site uploaded just a few minutes ago.

PS-

Yes it was a pain in the rear to re-add all the FTP settings, but made me organize a list!

Ran into another problem after deleting my VSD folder in the registry. Added all info as it was previously, but the glitch is one site is loading in another sites folder on the server. Hope someone can figure this out.

I have two sites that are on the same server, I use one User Name and Password to log into the server. The sites have different URL's, and before they uploaded to the correct place. Now the first site loads up fine, but the second site overwrites the first site, making everything on the first site scrambled. If I upload the first site again, it corrects things, but now I can't get the second site to upload to the proper folder. HELP!

Everything should be uploaded fine now, but here's the two sites:

Yes, that would be correct. You cannot upload two sites to the same folder. Upload your second site to a sub-folder instead.

Tim I have done that many many times. What my problem was is that I did not click on publish and select the site profile I wanted to upload. May try giving that a look. I think it is publish, ftp account setting then choose from the list the ftp location to upload to.

Here are my site:

They are two different domains, each having sub-domains which load OK. The two sites are just on the same server, and I log into the server with the same user name and password for both sites. There is no way around this as long as I'm on this server, already asked.

But like I said, it was working before I did the file delete. Now the user name and password are defaulting the second site to upload to the first site's folder instead of going to it's own domain.
