Multiple identical files downloaded...

I used to have a Flash menu on each of 26 pages of my website. I saw that it was not showing on the website when viewed by iPad tablet. So I changed to a set of buttons created using Buttonize. I grouped the buttons and pasted them on every page. But despite the files being identical (button 1 on page A = button 1 on Page B) the same button file is downloaded to the website under a different name for each page. So, instead of 10 button files I have 260, 10 for each of 26 pages. Now this is not a tragedy. But it does add to download time and for the upload for each visitor. I noticed it was not necessary the case that this happens, for I have another website where only some of the files are replicated while single files are called by each page for the other buttons. Therefore it doesn't seem to be inevitable that new files are created for each page. The question is then: can the developer do something so that multiple files are avoided? As I noted, I created the buttons only once, grouped them, and then pasted the whole group onto all the other web pages. I would have thought that might have helped. Ideas?

Unfortunately, that's how VSD works.
You're going to hate this idea if you already have a lot of pages done, but It helps if you start with one page; set the background and place any elements that will be on every page (logo, tagline, menu, copyright, graphics...). Then click the Add Page button and choose the option to copy a page and choose the page you just finished (be sure to name each page as you go).
I like to keep one 'master page' (no content, forms, images...) in case I need to add or change pages later.

You could use a menu maker (Google CSS menu maker, CC includes one in the HTML Editor). The menu is inserted with VSD's HTML tool. Then you can copy the menu without the overload of image files since you'd just be using HTML/CSS.

That's useful info. In a way I could slowly recreate pages one by one by copying from a master and adding the text etc boxes from the existing pages. I will also check out the menu maker. Thanks!

If you do this, copy/paste your text into something like notepad, then copy that to your new pages (just to avoid any formatting gltches). Insert photos per page from their original folders rather than copying from VSD's Files. That will help to avoid ending up with a bunch of "IMG_7.jpg" files.

Good luck on your mission! :D

Might be worth having a new folder (my-website-pictures) and put them in there first, so your new website has all its pictures in one new folder

For later SEO name folder something like (in my case) handmade-signet-ring-images
