missing fonts - Post ID 198849
When I try to use a font I know I have installed in windows its missing from VSD. Where does VSD get its fonts from??
VSD reads the fonts installed into Windows. The font must be a TTF.

Scott,
With reference to Andy's question......
Has there been some fundamental change in VSD that allows fonts added to windows fonts folder to be displayed from the server side of your website built with VSD? By visitors to your website? Without their having the typeface installed in their fonts folder?
Isn't it necessary to check off "allow advanced text" in the [object properties tool] in VSD in order for the text to be displayed as an "image" and therefore be displayed to visitors? Wasn't that the original premise behind the Website Font application?
Doesn't using "allow advanced text" then mask the actual "TEXT" from web crawling spiders?

You can enter alternate text when you use the advanced text option.

Using the Advanced Text option turns that text into an image. While that makes it viewable in the font you like on all systems, that makes it bad for SEO. The best course of action is to always stick with web safe fonts.
