so im trying to make a border with shapes, and reason for this is because i like you can add effects like glow, bevel etc and i made it look good, but then the shape dont go all the way to the bottom of the page instead i have to copy the shape and paste it and then stretch that shape to its limit which i think is 2000 but then the effects i have look rubbish as they colide, like the bevel, the glow i want it to be one long shape kinda but i cant stretch it all the way to the bottom without having to copy and paste it again and continue when the other shape stops stretching or reaches its maximum, is there anyway to make the 1 shape stretch all the way down to the bottom of the page so i dont have to copy and paste other shapes as the effects on the shapes colide and you can see its not 1 border, but many ive pasted and its not what i want.. can you help? thanks.

It IS possible to stretch a shape down to the bottom of the page. I've just tested it with a 2000px high page, and really, you shouldn't make the pages that long anyway, divide the contents into two or more pages instead.

Another thing: Out of respect for those who might read your post and try to help you, you could consider using the normal capitalisation of the first word of a sentence and break your text into sentences with a full stop at the end. I had a hard time understanding what you wanted.

Ive estimated that if i made new pages instead of linking to a section on the same page id need 40 pages for the site is that a bit too much for a site? and if i did do it this way, i wouldnt need to make the pages long but 40 pages seems a bit much to me do you think it is?

sorry about the text, i was rushing at the time, ill make future posts alot clearer.

40 pages isn't too much for a site. I've made sites larger than that.

If you make the pages very long, the loading time will increase, and a lot of people don't like too much scrolling, so they're likely to leave.

I would agree with Inger. If you have information that needs a page longer then 2000px it can probably be divided on to multiple pages making it easier to navigate. You can still use anchor links to the other pages.;)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

I had the same problem (2000px limit) when using shapes. I think it is a bit on the short side.
Even a lot of Coffee Cup pages I can see go way beyond 2000px and to me that's good... keep scrolling, it saves clicking to go on next page. I can understand it if a page was heavy on graphics.

If you have an image editing program, you can make your shape/page background and then save just a small "slice" of it. Insert it as a Page Background and it will repeat to fill the page no matter how long it is. It will be a much smaller file than an over-sized shape, plus – since it's set as a background, it can't be accidentally moved and there won't be any conflict with other shapes, images or mouseovers.

Here's some examples on this site:

Instead of following the CSS directions in the above tutorials, you would save your background as an image then go to Page Properties (in VSD) and select image for your background choice.

If he wants to have it beveled, glowing etc, he needs three such image slices, one for the top, with no-repeat, one for the middle bit with repeat-y, and then finally one for the bottom, also no-repeat. If the glow is the same to all sides, it will be ok to use the top one upside down at the bottom.
