This is crazy. I just re-opened VSD and centered a text box (that's all I did) and then clicked Preview and the got the infamous Encountered Improper Argument warning.

I have been receiving this error also lately when saving and attempting to publish.
I have to shut down my laptop, reboot and reopen VSD , save and publish...again.
It ususally works fine the second time but a pain to have to do this process.

Came up after working on a site without saving like an idiot. I pulled up task manager and found an active process. I ended the process and all was well. Of course, I immediately saved. Thing is I can't remember exactly what it was but it was actively using memory and has something to do with adobe shockwave. If it happens again, I will post the culpret.
I have not had that problem but I have just Googled it and it appears to occur in many programs. Not sure what program language VSD is written in but seems like it may have trouble finding a file, sounds like a C Error could be wrong. A error message has to exist to be displayed then that message has to be invoked on the system discovering a problem.
I would uninstall VSD and clean out the install folder and make a clean install. Doing a Defrag or using system cleaning tools can inadvertently remove a vital file.
It only takes 15 - 30 mins to uninstall and create a clean copy. That method has solved a number of no go problems I have had.
As it seems to apply to many programs besides VSD I think it to be a Language problem not the program written in it. There is possibility a weakness can be pampered to. My action would be to approach the language forums with the problem. Obviously not a user solution but I do not think it a fault of VSD also a victim of the language.
