I'm an HTML and CSS coder, been there, done that, with hand coding, Dreamweaver, and even used iWeb for quick and dirty sites. Getting tired in my old age. I use MACs exclusively. Benn looking at Rapid Weaver and other 'responsive' site tools. Can someone tell me:

1: Is RSD a stand alone product able to create a site from scratch, with the ability to edit HTML and CSS as well as using a WYSIWYG front end?

2:Will RSD require RLM, and if not why is it only being offered to owner's of RLM? (If it does require RLM, I'd like to purchase that this weekend with the current offer.)

3: RLM is available for the MAC, will RSD be available on the MAC?

Thanks!

Hiya thehac,

1. RSD will be a stand alone product, but it will not be WYSIWYG in the sense of drag and drop and you're done. It will be drag and drop and now position and style your element using the tools provided in the program for adjusting padding, margin, color, etc. Although it will not be the simple place it and go, it will be extremely powerful.

RSD will fully complete your site (from what I've seen and heard here on the forums and emails), so that you shouldn't have to tweak all that much outside of the program. It will incorporate the export feature that RLMP has right now as well so when you're done you can export the site and edit the code to your hearts content same as we do now with RLMP. You'll have full reign of the code outside of the program.
Now there may be "inside the program" html tools that I am unaware of so maybe someone else can enlighten us both on that part.

2. RSD will not require the use of RLMP in any way that I'm aware of. The hype to get it now is for your benefit to start learning the ins and outs of the program while you wait, and to be honest you can complete one heck of a lot of your site with RLMP right now.
What it WILL do though is allow you to create a site now in RLMP and then import that site into RSD when it's released. That is one of the other high selling points for RLMP right now, you can get a very large jump on the learning curve before RSD is released and you can still use RLMP after that to whip up quick site mockups for a client's viewing should the need arise. Other than that no, it's not required.
The program is also not only being made available only to RLMP users, they are only getting it sooner than everyone else as far as I know. Special discounts usually go out to those that have purchased certain software items as well and I believe that's the plan here if I recall the emails correctly if you've purchased RLMP.

3. Being on a Mac myself I am pretty sure they plan to release it for both Windows and Mac, hopefully we won't have to wait for it while everyone else is using it O.O

Maybe someone else will come enlighten us a bit more on the things I'm not sure about :)

No offense to the folks trying to provide information about RSD here, but most of what we are reading is hearsay. Coffeecup staff have commented on occasion, but we don't hear from them as much now as it seems they became tired of hearing "When is RSD coming?". It was first publicized on these boards with a release date before the end of 2014. Now that its almost May 2015, we still do not know a firm release date and probably won't. Don't get me wrong, I would much prefer that Coffeecup take the time to release a quality product. I'm actually hopeful that they are using this time to make it as easy to use as VSD with a WYSIWYG front end. In reality, this is the reason most of us moved to VSD. Without an easy to use front end, I still believe many of the folks that use VSD will change products. Remember, most of your VSD users are complete novices and use it because they don't (and don't want to) work with HTML or CSS.

I realize there are many folks on this board who are now much more advanced. But this is the VSD board and I suspect many of you advanced users don't even use VSD any longer. My feedback is for the folks who do use VSD and need a responsive products that is just as easy to use. :)

E-mail was sent out on April 18th stating the release (for RLM owners) in 5 days. Which would place it for release on April 22nd or 23rd (depending on how you want to count the 5 days). :D
