Is it possible to add/use an <h1> heading tag in page created by VSD?
I have read that using an h1 tag to emphasize key text can help for SEO. My site was created entirely with VSD 6.06 and I know nothing about html. When, as an experiment, I use a text editor to add <h1> and </h1> tags around a bit of text, the result is gargantuan bolded text. I have a feeling this has to do with css, but that is the limit of my paltry understanding. Can anyone suggest how to get an h1 and h2 tag into my page without the tagged text being visually altered?
my site: www.partnersinpsychology.net
Text I would like to tag: "effective psychotherapy with an experienced psychologist"
Thanks in advance.

Bob,
It's possible if you use the html tool -<h1>your text</h1>
It's possible if you use the html tool -<h1>your text</h1>
could you (or anybody out there) be more specific? I want to take my existing text and add the tag, so that the text stays at same size, specific font, non-bold, etc. When I use the html tool and add "Body HTML" before and after my text (<h1>, </h1>), it does not result in tagged text, just a couple of tags in code, floating by themselves. If I use html tool and put this into "Body HTML" field: <h1>some text>/h1> it adds giant, black, bolded text to what is already there.
Suggestions?

did you try just adding:
<h1>some text</h1>
rather than adding the Body HTML part as that is most likely already created by VSD. I'm just guessing here and I'll try it later if need be to see how it works since I don't use VSD, but it looks like you're trying to add the body tags also and I'm sure they are already there and you just need the exact tags for the code you want?

ok, I just figured out that if I delete my current text, add an HTML box in same place, place these tags in front of text: <h1><span class="textstyle9"> and these at end of text </span></h1> the text is properly formatted and more or less in the right place. But - if I move the box of text into right position for firefox previewing, positioning is way off in internet explorer, and vice versa. Is there no other way to do this? No way to apply tags to existing text?
hi joann,
What specifically do you mean when you say "did you try just adding:
<h1>some text</h1>"? Add it how?

Hi bob,
well another suggestion would be to use
Or maybe someone else that's better with coding could help......
still can try this using the html tool, but again you'll only view the box offline

Hiya bob, what I was referring to was your message above that says you added Body HTML (I am assuming you meant you actually typed that in there so) so I am thinking you put the body and html tags into the HTML tool area. such as:
<HTML>
<BODY>
<h1>some text</h1>
</BODY>
</HTML>
My comment was referring to the idea that you probably don't need to enter those tags is all. If I assumed the wrong thing, my bad sorry

Bruce's suggestion works well, also online. I've just tested it.
If you want to style your header using the various facilities in VSD, you can still use Bruce's suggestion but change the font colour to the background colour of the page, so that it becomes invisible. Then you can place your fancy heading on top of that.

How do you add a header tag to an existing page without changing the way the page looks?
