According to the help the file this is how to add swf flash

These instructions differ slightly from the process of adding other Flash objects created
with CoffeeCup software (Web Form Builder, Password Wizard, Web Video Player, etc.)
because Flash Firestarter produces an .swf file instead of an .xml file. To learn how to add
other Flash objects to your Visual Site Designer page, read Adding a Flash Object.
1. If you haven’t already done so, open Firestarter and save your animation twice — once as an
.swf file and once as a .fire project. When you save, a window will appear listing the files you
need to upload to your server and the HTML you need to paste on the page where you want
the animation to appear.
2. Copy the HTML.
3. Open the Visual Site

Does this mean that to add a non coffee cup flash Firestarter is required? For ease of use I would prefer to CC Flash menue builder but it is rubbish.

John, You can add any flash object into VSD. You do not have to have or use Firestarter. The cc Menu Builder is not rubbish, just simple. The point of cc software seems to be 'ease of use' for novice users, not bloat software that has more features than the average user will ever need. Either way you go, you will be able to import any flash menu you buy or build, into VSD. If you need more help, post back and I'm sure someone will be able to help you out.

You can insert any swf file that you wish but should really have an alternative method for navigation if the primary is Flash. Most people avoid Flash menus for site navigation.
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!

This is not the best answer, but it is what I did.

I created my animation using Flash CS4 Professional and published it as I normally would.

My first experiment was to open the HTML file that flash created with Notepad, and copy the parts after <body into the the Add HTML of VSD...I then added the .swf using the settings from the main menu of VSD.

Result: Blank screen.

So, I opened the Flash HTML using the Coffeecup HTML editor....Copied that same text (after the <body) and then pasted it into the Add HTML of VSD. This worked.

I have not had time to tear the differences in the process apart, but I will try to make the time later.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
