Importing my VSD-created website to...
My computer crashed so I just had to download the VSD software to another computer. I do not have any of my files for my website on this computer.
I used the ftp to transfer files from my web into a folder on my computer, but I am missing whatever main vnu file is necessary evidently because when I try to open the web in VSD, I do not see anything in the folder to open.
Any suggestions? This is quite a large website and I REALLY don't want to recreate the whole thing.
Thanks!

When you had uploaded your site, did you use the built in FTP of VSD? Or did you use an external FTP such as DirectFTP? Reason I ask is, I'm quite certain that the built in VSD transfer uploads the .vnu file as a form of backup. If you uploaded manually, it's possible that you missed it. Is there "anyway" you can hook up your old computer's hard-drive to either your new system or another to find the file and transfer it? You won't like this next bit, but without the .vnu file, you're pretty much out in the cold. That is one reason why it is CRITICAL to always have at least one back-up of that file (the .html files don't really need to be backed up as long as you have the .vnu).

I know I mostly use DirectFTP, but I think the last time I used the publish directly from the VSD software. Where would that .vnu file be transferred to if I did use the built in FTP? Thanks!
I'm not real sure, as I've only played around with VSD a bit. There are several guru's here though, and I'm sure one of them will chime in with some help for ya. Good luck.

You should be able to find a copy of your VSD .vnu file on your server in a folder named backup.
It will have a date and time stamp associated with the name of your site. Download the file and rename it to what your old site was called. You then should be able to use it to get most if not all of your site put back together.

Excellent! Let me look into that, Eric, and I'll report back when it's restored. : )
Well it looks like there is nothing in my backup folder on my server, so I will try to access the .vnu file on my old hard drive.
I just checked 2 of my VSD sites both uploaded with inbuilt ftp
The vnu files are in public_html,,,Backups
