Good Afternoon:

I'm learning via "baptism by fire" and have a concern about how images are rendered in VSD, versus the final product.

I have some professionally made graphics (company logo, etc) which do not appear to render so smoothly in the page, regardless of size. Having used some of these images in other applications, I know the issue is not the image. Is it simply a matter of how VSD renders the image, or will that carry through to final publication?

Or, do I have to resize these before I import them into VSD?

Hiya Maxwell,

If I recall correctly, and I'm sure someone will smack me if I don't lol, I believe that resizing prior to use will help.

I make copies of my graphics (don't mess with the originals), then size and save for web in Photoshop. Any other image editor should be fine for this, too. PNG files especially display much better when placed at their final size rather than re-sized in VSD.

I have a PNG file with a transparent background that does not render correctly at all. I gave up on that one. @Jo Ann - yep, that's what I figured, I'm spacing out what I need now and I'll resize what I need later. We'll see how things go....thanks guys...

Just in case you don't know this about VSD - within the program, PNG files will have a black background instead of the transparency. They show up just fine in preview and on the uploaded site.

Makes it kind of awkward when laying out your site, but if you can just ignore the black boxes, it'll be OK!
Was this the main problem with the images? Or are there some other VSD secrets we can let you in on?:D
