Image file locations - Post ID 166893
I don't seem to understand the file directory structure of the VSD-generated website.
I had a gif image that I wanted on a page. I did an "add files..." adding it to a subdirectory on my site. I saved the vnu file to get the image copied to the subdirectory locally. I then put an image on the page, with the fill set to my image in the subdirectory. I manually uploaded the image subdirectory and the page html file to my web host (the FTP on my web host is funky, so the VSD upload function is not working. I can get the files uploaded using FileZilla, so this isn't an issue). When I view my page, the image was missing.
After a bit of investigation, I found that VSD seems to have copied the image from the subdirectory where I put it to the "Files" subdirectory, and linked to the copy. If I upload the files directory, my web site works. However, I don't really want a huge "files" directory with duplicate copies of everything in it - this just wastes space and make the website more difficult to maintain.
So, my question is: is there a way to get VSD to use images from the specified location, instead of from the files directory? Or am I just doing something wrong.
Thanks!

Do as you did and add files and create a custom image directory then add your images to it. Then you'll have to use a HTML box and hard code the image into the page.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Thanks for the reply. Your solution will work, and I may end up doing it that way. I already use HTML boxes for image galleries, etc. However, one of my goals in using VSD was to allow a non-HTML expert to maintain the site, so I would prefer to stay within the bounds of VSD objects as much as possible. For now, I will probably live with the bloated files directory, although it offends my sense of elegance.
Remember you don't need to add images to VSD files. Just add the images to your page and let VSD do the adding.
