Image fails to show in Preview

I built a page with an image. In preview mode, it shows up.
But the image in the page is a reduced size version of a larger file I want to make available to the user via a simple mouse click on the image.
I set a link to a document and, using the browse button, selects the source image (the large size version) where it is.
I save the page, go to preview mode, click on the smaller size image on the page and get the follwing error: Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (c) isn't associated with any program.

I moved the file to where the other files for the page are (in the file folder under the folder that bears my website name, all of this on my local machine of course). And updated the link.
No go.

I look at the html source and the <a href tag shows the problem: the full path is in there with the % signs everywhere. The smaller image embedded in the page has a simple <img source="files/xxx.jpg"

I am not an html specialist and would not know how to insert something like that, much less what tool to use to edit the vsd page.
But surely there is a simple solution to this!
Thanks in advance
Olivier

Can we have a link to the site in question?

Ah... Nevermind... you should take the spaces out of the image name. This should fix the problem with the %'s showing up.

There is no space in the file name. The % show up in the path name that is the local path VSD selects when the document link is being made.
There is no link to a site because this happens on my local drive and I would like to find out what is going on so that I can fix it.
Below is what comes up when I look at the page source in the preview mode:
href="C:%5CUsers%5COlivier%5CDocuments%5CCoffeeCup Software%5CVisual Site Designer%5CBackups%5CCloudsbegone_website%5Cfiles%5CDownload%5CM106_180min.jpg"

As you can see, the file name (M106_180min.jpg) does not have any space.
What I do not understand is why VSD creates this reference link where as when I put a picture in the page, it maps the correct link (in the files folder).

Any ideas?

This is where I shall turn over to Viv or PaintBrush, they are VSD users and may be able to tell you more. I will do some research and see if I can not find the answer though. :P

So it looks like a problem with VSD when doing previews only
I downloaded the free Html editor (thank you folks for this) and looked at the code for the href. It was fine without any complicated path.
I opened the page with Firefox and clicking on the image led me to the larger size file.
But trying to do that in the Preview mode within VSD fails.

So I learned something today and hopefully, the VSD tech support folks will read this and either fix it or let users know in the help file that this is an issue.

I still like this software. For the price, it is a solid value.

Hiya Olivier,

VSD doesn't actually create the real url links until you publish your site. Until then they are links to your own local files. Once you publish they will update to the server links then :)

I don't know if this might help... but you could add the larger image to your site; go to Edit, Add Files and browse to your image. Then VSD should be able to find it when you click the thumbnail link.

That's all I've got :D
