Greetings all,

I looked and could not find a similar topic, however I may have missed so I apologize in advance for repition....

I have a site I created using Visual Site Builder. www.selectivetastes.com (still in her infancy) I opened one of the pages in HTML Editor and added code for a link. Previewed and it was great. When I open the site again in Visual Site Builder and bring up that page the link/banner is not there. Very puzzled,:/

Thanks for any help!

Hi Amy,
When you open the site backup in VSD and republish it will overwrite all the hacking you did in the html editor.:) Use the html tool in VSD to add a html box that will hold your link.
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

VSD uses a "master file" with the extension .vnu while editing. From this file it creates the .html files when publishing. Those .html files, as you've discovered, can be edited in the HTML Editor. BUT, once you've done so, VSD will no longer see the changes made, as you've not affected the .vnu file.

Follow Rolly's advice and you'll be fine.

Thanks all! Does this mean I really don't need html editor if I have Visual site designer?

You may find yourself using it at some point, as your interest and skills grow. But, technically, no you shouldn't NEED it.

You'll find a lot of uses for it. I use it for tweaking code that I add to a vsd page using the html tool.:cool:

Ok, I added the same code using the VSD Add html and it says I have to add the files referrenced by the link. I can understand that. In html editor it must have done that since I did not get an error and the banner shows up just fine. My question is... I got the banner from Commission Junction, Is this where I would also go for the file? This is the code..

<a href="http://www.tkqlhce.com/cc111mu2-u1HNNKRLNPHJIQKKQQN" target="_blank" onmouseover="window.status='http://www.mightyleaf.com';return true;" onmouseout="window.status=' ';return true;">
<img src="http://www.tqlkg.com/nn75snrflj4AA7E8AC465D77DDA" alt="MightyLeaf.com" border="0"/></a>

to add the file would I add what's in the quotes of the img src?

Thanks for all your tolerance of a newbie
