I have the same logos and menu buttons on most of my pages. I need for them to come from the same files. But in fact a duplicate set of .jpg files is downloaded for every page displayed. How can I keep VSD from duplicating all these files?
I did use copy and paste, or sometimes the "duplicate page" option of "add page," but the object files were still duplicated.

You would need to add the images you want to use to the site using the menu Settings > Add Files...
Then you would create the html for the images manually using the html tool, so the images you added will be used on each page.
Images added and embedded in this way will not be duplicated, and their file names won't be changed.

Thanks. That's doable. But that will make my design completely non-visual, so I should be using another tool. Another solution might be to use frames, but apparently that would also mean abandoning VSD... I probably just bought too hastily. But thanks for the info!

I am a little lost.
This sounds the same problem, I have text with advance text with mouse over.
I have 19 intenal links and images on 11 pages , lots of duplicate images.
Is there a step through guide.
many thanks

Another way to go about it...
Create your main page (index) with your background, logo, menu and any other items that will be on all pages. Then for each page you add check the duplicate page option and select index. You can use the duplicate page for any page you want to copy, so if your internal pages are different from your home/index, choose one of those to be the "master page" all the others are copied from.
For any additional images that need to be added to those pages, go to insert and browse to your original file. If you decide to use an image on more than one page, do the insert from the original file rather than copying it in VSD.

Duplication did not work, after going through 11 pages still had over 200 images.
It works best if you're just starting your site. If you already have a bunch of images in the Files folder, it won't help that.
Someone here had described how he "cleans up" that mess (maybe Bruzer?). I know it involved deleting the Files folder.... Will go have a look for that thread....
OK - here it is, Bruzer made a video tutorial:
