How to get around fixed size in VSD -...
I have created my website using Visual Site Designer and I am really happy with the software. I love that easy for me to use since I don't know a lot of html. I really need a larger page size and I think I'm going to have to move on to the HTML Editor. I really want to be able to view my design. How difficult is it to flip back and forth between the code editor and visual editor? I had a problem with it when I tried the trial. It seemed that once I saved it, I couldn't go back and forth. Does the HTML Editor have a fixed page size?
Hi Amy,
You can change the page size in VSD, however you'll have to arrange things bit after doing so. Just go to settings, standard settingsfor new pages and to the right you'll see the current page sizes. just highlight them and change accordingly but first you should go to load existing page settings and choose your first page and go from there.

Thanks for the reply! That is very helpful. Some web pages seem to go on and on, allowing the viewer to scroll down forever. I really just need extra room to scroll down. The width of my pages are fine.
It seems that VSD is such a user friendly program. What would be the advantages of going to the HTML Editor? I'm really thinking about changing to the Editor. I want to learn more HTML, but I also want the WYSIWYG convenience. The HTML Editor seems like VSD with an HTML screen. Is it that simple?

Not really as simple as it looks, VSD is way easier for anyone not knowing any coding as you know, and how I learned some basic coding was using VSD first, made a website (or something lol) and then looked at the coding in VSD to see how a link was made and what code was used, so I saved all the codes I was intested in -in Html editor's snippets, and kept going by looking at other websites and doing the samething. Now as for html editor you can make great websites with the program as you can see of the users posted in the Break Room. but be for warned that going from VSD and changing codes in that program will only work as long as you do not have to upload again because VSD doesn't recognize the changes, just uploads from it's vnu file. and also in html editor going from visual editor back to code editor (back and forth) the code chnages on you and you end up with a mess. I suggest before doing any switching read up on it, could even make a folder on your server for testing how it looks and upload to that folder. nobody will see it but you unless you want them too.

There are two different applications you can use to create your site: HTML Editor and Visual Site Designer.
The main difference between HTML Editor and Visual Site Designer is access to the raw HTML. Visual Site Designer will generate all the necessary HTML for you and allow you to focus on the design of your page. You can insert text, images, links, etc. and drag them anywhere on the page. You can even create shapes such as rectangles and circles, or add effects like glow, bevel, and shadow. Because everything is stored in the VNU file for Visual Site Designer, it cannot open preexisting HTML files to edit.
The HTML Editor, on the other hand, can open any HTML file and edit it with either the Code Editor or Visual Editor. The Visual Editor will also allow you to insert text, images, links, etc., but you cannot create shapes or effects within the program. Those would need to be done outside the software and inserted as images. Because the HTML Editor edits one file at a time, as opposed to the entire site, you have more control over things like filenames, directory structure, etc., and how these elements are uploaded to the server.
