how to configure default mail client...

I have linked an item using the EMAIL option.....but while its under IE it gives me an error
"could not perform this opertion because the default mail client is not properly installed"
I have looked everywhere on VSD to see how to configure this.
Can anyone offer some advise ?

That is not something configured in VSD. That is something that is coming from your operating system. That is a good example of why you should use a contact form over an email address. If you have no email client installed or configured, that is the alert you will get. Using a contact form would correct this.
Another plus is the email address now will get spidered by SPAMMERS and sooner or latter, you will get a lot of email that you do not want.

Hi Gigi,
You really don't have email software installed or configured on your system? I can hardly believe this. The only thing I can think of is: you've made a typo...
By the way, Scott, the output of a contact form goes to an email address almost always, or even always? I do not think even one VSD user exists who stores the output in a MYSQL database. So.....

For me on my system, I do not have any email client installed, so when I click on an email address that is linked in an href, I always get an error. Just depends on your system and what you have installed.
The output of the form goes to however you have it configured. There is no default setting. You can have email, CSV or MySQL logging.

Right.
But even with a form if you send it to an email address then that is still in the code to the page and a spider or 'bot will pick it up.

I did use quotes around new.
Still.
That is a feature worth standing on a hill and shouting.
I mean. Search G--gle for how to hide an email address or "best way to put an email address on a web page" or something like that and CC Web Form builder doesn't come up.
And it SHOULD!
