How do I make a mouseover from...
I have two images I want to use already. I don't want to use VSD's text or blocks. From the searching I've done I understand they have to be .jpg file. OK, no problem.
Now how the samhill do I accomplish this? I'm just making a menu. I want the buttons to change slightly when hovered over.
I found a couple threads that seemed to have the answers only the links posted were DEAD!.
GAAAAAHHHHH!!!!
I'm no dummy. I'm a bit of a techno geek and can figure things out pretty quickly. I thought this program was supposed to be pretty straightforward. This is a BASIC function! How the %*#&$ can it be so difficult?!?! I'm so frustrated I could feed the monitor to the motherboard!
I'm using VSD version 6 build 6. Windows 7.
No website to post yet because I can't seem to get VSD to cooperate.
Update: Just went through the mouseover instructions included in the help files. Figured I'd try making one with the VSD's own shapes and texts.
THAT doesn't work either!! When I tried to preview it I got the error message "A mouseover object must not intersect with other objects on the page"
WHAT THE $*@&#($!!! ?!? Isn't that what a mouseover object IS?!?! One underneath the other? Well OK, there are other ways of doing it but come on. I'm not asking for the thing to solve economic problems in a third world country. I just want it to DO WHAT IT'S SUPPOSED TO DO!!
I have other problems with this program but that's fodder for another thread.
Getting disgusted.

You see Danny, I can deal with the bullets, and the bombs, and the blood. I don't want money, and I don't want medals. What I do want is for you to extend me some courtesy. You gotta ask me nicely.
CoffeeCup... Yeah, they are the best!

Hi,
Please check that there is nothing not even the tiniest object under your mouseover because that will cause exactly what you are talking about, I know I have been there!
Stay calm also, motherboards get indigestion after eating monitors

What I do to make sure my buttons are not over lapping one another, I just control select them all to see the border, because in my case the background was black so the border was not easily seen..
btw the guides also helped me out, just inserted a set of verticle and horiztonal guide lines and space evenly between them, voila! No more error, and my buttons are nicely aligned.

I was trying the mouseover on a BLANK PAGE. There wasn't anything for it to be on - Or at least I didn't think so. I just tried again and it worked just fine. The only thing I can think of is I left a tiny point of shape when I was first starting with the shape tool. So I can make a mouseover using the shapes and text made by VSD.
BUT...
That still doesn't answer the questions I'm asking with this thread.
How the heck do I make a mouseover using two images I already have on my computer?
Surely it can't be too difficult. Am I missing something simple here???

I believe you can make a picture have the effect of a mouseover. Add the picture to the page using the picture tool. After it's on the page highlight it and select the Mouseover feature. Set the paramaters you want for the mouseover and it should work.
Note: Two items that mouseover cannot touch.

Thanks Tim.
I can make one image into a "mouseover" of sorts. I can change the text (as long as it's text entered by the VSD program) and I can make it move using the offset... but I want it to change from one image to the other.
Is that possible with this program??

Yes Tim, that's possible.
1: make a button
2: make a mouseover for that button
3: Choose the mouseover button instead of the original object (in the 'mouseover' option)
3: Then click the 'fill' option
4: fill the mouseover button with another picture
It's that easy!
For best results, the picture that fills the mouseover button, should have the same size and proportions.
You can see an example here: http://cuba.johnvanhulst.nl/ This site features my Cuban music adventures, CDs and live music recorded in Cuba by me. If you hover over the CD covers, they switch from the front to the back cover.
Success, John
