Yes. Exactly. But Google says the code is not installed. I did re-upload each page to the server. Do I need to upload anything else?

Tanya - Actually Google says to put it right before the </body> tag, not the </head> tag, but I just opened VSD and played with it myself (not a big VSD user at the moment) and it put it in the same spot as yours is...

Implementing the code
Once you find the code snippet, copy and paste it into the bottom of your content, immediately before the </body> tag of each page you are planning to track. If you use a common include or template, you can enter it there. To implement tracking code for secure pages (e.g. https://), please read How do I obtain tracking code for secure pages?

That quote is from this article http://www.google.com/support/googleana … &hl=en which also says it could take up to 24 hours to see changes... It looks like you just uploaded the latest this morning at around 9 am...

It says it can take up to 24 hours to see any reports....but it should verify that the code is installed right away. Yes, I just added it this morning.

I'm sure that someone that's more savvy with VSD will jump in here sooner or later, but maybe in the mean time you should open a support ticket on this... I can't imagine that CC would put a feature in the program to "add the code" and end up putting it in an improper place (at least not intentionally). They should be able to clear things up for you though.

I do see the spacing is not the same as it shows on the Google site. (I copied and pasted) Perhaps I need to insert it myself into an HTML editor. I'm afraid of source code! So wish me luck.

That would be one way (at least as a temporary fix...), but do realize that ANY changes you implement into the code outside of VSD, WILL NOT BE THERE when you go back to VSD to make future changes.

An easier way to do this is to use the option to upload the google code to the site (google allows you to add an actual html page that they generate for you to upload) rather than inserting it into the code. I'm pretty sure it does the same either way so this might be an easier option.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this if there's other reasons to actually embed the code rather than upload googles generated page? It's been a while so I could be totally wrong and maybe you need to do both, but I don't think so.

I think that was the old way, Jo Ann. I seem to have an old page in there from google that was uploaded. Network Solutions won't let me delete it. BUT.....I did manually insert the code immediately before </head> just as it says to on the Google site. And now it says "waiting for data"....so it worked! It's verifying it now.

Apparently, adding it via VSD doesn't work. It deletes spaces and puts it in the wrong place. Maybe they can fix that soon!

I used CC's html editor and saved my page with the code in it. So hopefully that will stick when I re-open VSD.

Now the question is....do I need to embed that code on every page of my site? Probably, since I did it manually.

Not sure on the every page, but I do know that it will "not" stick when you reopen the site in VSD so be prepared that you'll need to readd that code each time you save your site if it's on a page that VSD opens.

Why can't you delete the google file? Kind of strange that you are restricted from deleting a file that isn't part of the operations of the server from your domain.
