Home Page Left Justified, But Content...

Hey all,

I created a simple site with 8 pages plus the home page. In the preview, and in the published site, the Home page is flush with the left side of the browser but all other pages are centered. I checked the "Center Design" box on the Page Properties of the Home page but that doesn't help.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I don't use VSD Brian, but seems to me that most of the pages will have their own settings? Have you checked each page's settings to see if they are each set to Left? I could be wrong here, so don't shoot me for trying, just going by a lot of messages I see where people have said go into the page settings and that each page has it's own setup type thing.

Hey Joann,

Yes, I checked that each page was set to "Center Design", which in fact they are all doing except for the home page. And it's a little frustrating for me to struggle with something as apparently simple as this because I'm used to working a lot more with the HTML of a page rather than doing it with something like VSD. I used it this time because I wanted something stable that was quick and easy.

By the way, I'm using version 7.0, Build 8, and the "Sturdy Past" default theme that is provided with this version.

First off, I'd update to the latest version of VSD. It should be Build 26. Updates are FREE. That in itself may cure your problem. If not, check back with us.

You might try removing this (code below) and then see what happens. There's an extra <head> tag – that can't be good. Besides, there's no need for this. Under Edit (top menu), you'll find a place to enter keywords. Another thing, that's a lot of keywords :o:

Well, I upgraded to the latest version, which did not seem to fix the problem, but which I always agree is an excellent recommendation. And I removed the seemingly inoffensive code in the header, and the problem went away. Bizarre, that is. I wish I had more control over the coding in these pages, but I know that's the price of the WYSIWYG interface.

Thanks for the assistance.

Did you look under the Edit options to add your keywords?
With VSD, it's usually best to use its built in functions whenever possible – let VSD do things its own way.
I would bet that second <head> tag in your code was confusing it ;)

I tried a few things with adding code to the head and it always caused issues

If paintbrush has spotted keywords, i guess thats what the code was you removed ?

Under EDIT, EDIT KEYWORDS & DESCRIPTION you can set your keywords etc and its worked perfectly every time for me

I had an issue adding GOGGLE VERIFICATION CODE as well, now i do that a strange way by putting an HTML box at the top of my homepage with it in, its actually a useful reminder as you see the dragged out box every time you open VSD on that page
Started using CC VSD in January 2009, I don't do HTML code, Sales from CC site exceeding expectations taken me out of semi-retirement

Very good. Thanks for the suggestions, and the help. I'm going to leave well enough alone for now while I build out the content. But the keywords will eventually be edited! :)
