Hello. I pubished this little VSD site around 3 months ago - but have rubbish google rankings. I am slowly but surely building backlinks all over the place.

Could anyone have a look and give me some pointers? One thing I was considering was tagging the blue title text as headers eg <H1>. Not sure how to do this and keep the text in the same position with the same font. Any advice?

Cheers me dears!

I haven't read through all the code, but one thing I think you could change: The google analytic code is supposed to be at the bottom of the page, not at the top.

And with the header picture background1.png, use the alt tag to write the name of the site. If there isn't a <h1> element, Google will look for the alt tag.
Ha en riktig god dag!

Thanks Inger - have updated my Alt tag for the header picture. Hopefully that will do the trick. If you can think of anything else, that would be great!

Hi, I like your website it is very nice.

Here are a few tips

1. Make sure you have your <h1> <h2> header set up correctly.

2. All images need an alt tag with description of the image e.e. alt="green vw camper for hire"

3. set up a sitemap for your website

4. Go to google webmaster tools and get a google verification meta tag, place it on your index page in the <head> </head> section and verify it with google. Also submit your sitemap to google. This is a must for any website. Do the same for yahoo and bing i.e. get verification meta tags.

5. In your title, description and keywords meta tags include the word london and take the words 'home page out' as that is were you are based and where you want your clients to come from. Your titel is very important optimisation tool. You titel page should actually read 'Bus VW Camper Hire London | Weddings VW Camper Hire London'

6. Your description tag reads 'Vintage VW camper wedding car and holiday hire available across London and surrounding counties' and it should read 'London Bus VW Camper hire for Weddings and holidays, call (your contact phone number)

7. Your meta tag keywords reads 'vw camper wedding, honeymoon campers, campervan rental, motorhome rental, camper van hire uk,vw camper van hire, camper van wedding, volkswagen camper van hire,vw camper hire, kombi hire,vw campers london, rent a campervan'. First of all it is way too long. It would read better 'VW camper hire, VW camper hire london, wedding vw camper hire, vw bus camper hire, vw camper, hire, london' If you want to use the word 'rent' you need to have this word in you text as well and add it to your titel, description tag and keywords as 'vw camper rental london'.

8. You have a total of 150 words on your home page and your keywords density is very low, you need in your text a keyword 3x per 100 words. Use the words bus vw camper hire london 3 times in your text and also any other keywords you want people to find you under. If you need to add text to the home page do so. Your meta tags will not work if the keywords you have in your meta tags are not the correct density to your text.

9. All your pages have the same meta tags. Each page should have a unique titel related to its content and each page should have its own unique meta tags. For instance your bus page should have the titel 'VW Camper Busses for rent London. So here you optimising this page with the word rent.

10. Press page should have as titel Advertise on our camper VW Vans for Hire. Again each page unique with titel and own meta tags.

11. You need to do some interlinking between the pages. So when you have text that can relate to information on another page e.g. a text on the home page relates to the busses page make the text a link to that page. Don't overdo the interlinking but a few interlinks are good to have for google.

12. Do not forget to create a urllist and a robot.txt file.

13. Also a good way to get a position for London is put your business on google maps (google places) under camper hire and use the options google maps gives you for more categories and use one for vw camper hire.

14. Another idea would be to use the words 'vintage' with the hire as you then target the segment that are looking for a vintage vw camper not just a vw camper, there are a lot of vw campers out there, the word vintage will target the people who like vintage stuff, you can add this everywhere to the titel tag and all the other meta tags as well as of course the text.

This is all I can think late at night now but it should help you get beter results on google.

Good luck. :)

Wow - AViD, that is seriously helpful and pitched at just the right level. I am not a web developer, so am on a steep learning curve. I will certainly take on all your very useful tips over the next couple of days, and see if I can turn this in to a website that google will notice! Thank you - you are a superstar!

It is a lot to take in and a lot to learn. Take your time. If you have any questions just post.

I just added a section about using the word Vintage in my last post, it is only an idea.

I just adore those campers! Nice looking site...have you set yourself up a page on Facebook too. I set up a page for an arts festival I am working with yesterday afternoon, and by the end of the day I already had 40 followers...and mainly local who look like being potential visitors to the festival. Might work for your site too. It does mean that you have to put the word around to set the ball rolling, but it would do no harm in trying.

Thank you! I had fun putting the site together and love VSD - could not have done it otherwise.
I certainly do have a Facebook Page, www.facebook.com/buttercupbus which I need to promote a little more. It is where I notify people of last minute deals, and post pictures from our latest bookings.

The key words on your home page are duplicating, google and yahoo do not like this

try something like

vw,camper,van,campervan,wedding,holiday,hire,rental,in,croyden,london,ec1,england,short,long,term,week,day,self,drive,available,for,film,advertising,promo,promotions,

And I only have back links that are relevant, I can set one up for you on one of my high ranking sites that might help you, its for wedding car hire in amersham.
