Graphic Files not loading from VSD -...

Started having problems the other day when I tried to add another photo to a photogallery on my website. After that all my graphics went crazy!

Like one graphic re-sizing itself and taking place in another spot etc. Goofy stuff with mouse-overs.

I totally deleted all the files off the server using Free FTP. (I am on my second shot on this)

When I reloaded tonight. What I noticed is VSD did not load any of the graphic files (the photo galleries loaded fine).

Looks like all the graphics are pointed at a sub-folder called files; and when VSD loads the "files" folder remains empty.
Right now I am going page by page and just manually loading the missing files to see if I can figure it out.

Anybody have any ideas as to why I have suddenly encountered a problem?

Try the "Re-Sync Website" option under Publish.:)
I can't hear what I'm looking at.

I did try it both ways, as an upload and a re-sync

Have you added any images to your actual pages recently? If so make sure their not named in this type of format.

So does something like IMG_0173.jpg count ?

The graphics VSD creates (for buttons etc.) all have a format of IMG_205 etc. I do not think there is a way to change those??? Is there??

If you load a photo with a similar format with an underscore does it confuse VSD?

Thanks for your help I am hoping I will learn something that helps me get this working correctly.

I think the idea here is not to overwrite your own images that VSD has already created for you so you shouldn't name them with things like IMG_0173.jpg yourself, you should import them via VSD and let VSD do the renaming of them for you and let VSD do the image processing etc.

VSD may already have an image of that name so best to just name your images for what they are such as chiuahua_cute.jpg and let VSD rename it as it needs as it has it's own system built in for that so it knows what numbers it needs to use. If you do it you may overwrite a different image, or confuse the program as it won't know which image to use etc.

Hope that helps. Not sure that helps your issue, but hope that helps understand it more :)

Jo-Ann
I think you are on to something. I went through and changed all of "my" graphics to make sure I eliminated any similar formats... however still had problems.

One thing I noticed is that VSD saves the exact same graphic several times. It appears that if you copy a page all the graphics that were created with VSD (like navigation buttons, shapes, special text) are all resaved with a new file name img_XXX. I had hundreds of img_xxx files!

I decided to just rebuild all my own navigation buttons and have deleted all the img_xxx images that I replaced off the server.

I am hoping this is a long range solution.

Have something to add? We’d love to hear it!
