About the Flash - Like you really want to hear about one more glitch!
I've found that Flash objects that look good and work fine on any other computer/browser don't work the same way on my Linux (with Firefox). I've updated the Flash, but it still won"t display properly. I've been searching in other forums for an answer, but so far have come up with nothing that will change how Flash is displayed on this computer. The main thing is no transparency, so I see every layer of the menu buttons all at one time, and they're not clickable. On my own site, I had a transparent background on a form which showed up as a grey box when viewed in the Linux/Firefox.
I just looked at your other site (Namsan) and that menu does show up. Looking at the source code, it's different from the alps site. There's no "onmouseover" or "onmouseout" for the links in the alps site. The menu and the paragraph text are overlapped, but I don't see any non-web fonts (the usual culprit when that happens).
It's always a good Idea to have a simple text-only menu at the bottom of your pages so that people who don't have the latest Flash or have Javascript turned off, or who use a screen reader will still be able to get around your site.

Thank you for help. Clearly we are seeing different things and my first thought , if you can still see any flash buttons on alpesapt is that you're lookig at a cached image because I removed them before the picture galleries.

Also I don't see any text overlay - can you be more specific - all text is verdana to be cross platform safe.

I'm wondering if the upload feature is doing its job correctly - particularly over deletions. Why does it still look for a long-discarded and removed feature.

I'm not seeking to blame anyone but myself - hence my first question was about the correct directories - but the more I read, the more I wonder if the software's as foolproof as the afficionados suggest.

David I can see the form on the Contact page fine in both Firefox and IE.
I know you believe you understand what you think I said...but I am not sure you realize that what you heard is not exactly what I meant.

Thanks tassie - assuming you mean the contact form on both sites, I guess the question is how can we make it visible to everyone.

The form shows up fine for me in both FF 3.6.3 & on IE 8's version 8.0.6001.18702. The form loads a bit slowly, but it looks to be functioning.

It is unlikely that you will be able to make it visible to everyone as it uses flash and not everyone has flash enabled.

This happens with many fancy features that make web pages look good and function better. Its often a trade off between aesthetics, functionality and accessibility.

According to Adobe, 99% of internet users have Flash enabled.

If you can believe statistics :)

They also have a vested interest in making the figures look good I suspect.

There would still be visitors using screen readers and such that wouldn't be able to access flash features and those who have just reformatted and forgotten to re-install flash :/

Well, of course Adobe has a vested interest but I believe the stats are fairly accurate. Most people today have Flash installed in this day and age. Screen readers can be problematic concerning accessibility but it can be achieved using Flash. Another issue would be accessibility of hand held devices. :)

I can see the form on both of my computers (Vista and Linux) in FF, but the menu only shows up on the Vista FF (on form page), and it's not "clickable". In Linux - there's just a blank area. It looks like your form is really large (1024p x 1026p), with a lot of empty blank space under the actual form elements. I'm guessing the menu isn't working because there's some conflict with placing the menu over a form???

The menu works fine on the other pages, although on both computers I have to scroll down to find it. Paragraph text overlaps the menu on Linux/FF.

Everything looks OK in Vista/Chrome and Vista/IE8, but the menu items weren't clickable in Chrome, yet worked fine in IE8 :P Maybe try making the form just large enough to contain the form elements and make sure your menu is not overlapping the form anywhere? As for the text overlapping, leave a little breathing room between elements - make sure their bounding boxes don't touch and it's also good to leave a little extra space within text boxes. On the home page, it looks like you could stretch it horizontally a bit to pull the last word (paradise) into the paragraph rather than letting it dangle there all by itself.
Has anyone checked this out on a Mac? That's probably more important than Linux at this point in time!:D
