Exsisting File Uploads - Post ID 87744
I have about 20 large WMV files that are already uploaded to my website. I cannot access them because my first attempt to design a site was a disaster (very much a newbie here).
I am starting over using Coffee Cup.
On page 31 of the help guide, it talks about adding files, and that brings me to my question(s).
If I load all of these files as a function of loading the website design, will that really go through? So far, the only way i can move those files is through and FTP (the Coffee Cup version of course). It is the only upload process that has not crashed or frozen up. Is it a safe bet VSD can handle that load?
Or, should I attempt to connect the design to the files alreadu up there AFTER i load the design? That does not sound like alot of fun.
Finally, will i have any worries with the exsiting design up there? It is a total screw up on my part.
It is sounding more and more like i should strip everything out of that site and start over, but the "load" of the uploading process makes me nervous.
Thanks in advance for your opinions.

I seem to have seen somewhere that you have an FTP programme. If I were you, I would download (delete if you have the same files on your computer) those video files from the server again, and also the Web video player, if you have uploaded it. In other words, clear out the files that you have uploaded earlier, which were so disasterous. The reason for that, is that when using VSD, you have to let VSD handle the files connected with the site.
Create the site in VSD, use the flash tool to add the Web Video player with it's files, and upload the whole shoot via VSD.
If you get stuck in the process, yell out for us again.

That makes perfect sense. Thank you! But, your answer implies something I did not consider.
Do I need to include the web video player? By sending a link to the file, won't the local video player on the student's PC handle the playing of the lecture?
Thank you again Inger. I WILL get through this!

Well, my thought was that you wanted the video files presented on your site, so I assumed you were intending to use the Web video player.
If you just want a list of video files that open in the default player, then of course you can just link to them. as you said. In that case you can leave your video files where they are. Sorry if you already have removed them...
