Error while uploading - the program...

I am uploading my updated website using the publish button on VSD. It gives me a catalog error while uploading.

I then used the free coffee cup ftp and was able to get some of the changes uploaded but I am missing pages.

For example my website is www.Ener-Healing.com

I am updating the Gemstone Jewelry section by adding new items. You can now see all new items on the Gemstone jewelery page, but the Sodalite necklace is the last one that you can click on to see details. The ones after that give an error message because the pages do not exist.

I am confused because when I open the website in VSD it pulls up the pages on the "show pages" tab but when I try to manually look in the folder they do not exist.

How can this be and how can I fix it? Thanks! : )

At what point when you publish your site though VSD does the error occur?
I can't hear what I'm looking at.
It's easy to overlook something you're not looking for.

Jennifer, do you mean they're not in the folder on your server, or the VSD files on your computer?
Have you tried re-doing the links? The first one works, second one gives a 404 error:

<a href="SodaliteHematiteSS.html">Magnetic Hematite,.....

<a href="21"turquoiseHematiteSS.html">21&#34; Magnetic Hematite,......

If you can see your pages in the VSD program, try saving again, re-linking to them (and save again) then use the synch option when uploading this time (this will upload everything, not just changes).

The site appears to be almost completed uploading and then the error comes up.

I can see the pages when I have VSD open and I click the "show pages" tab at the top. I can open each page to view. However, they are not in the folder on my computer when I open my documents and view it there. They are also not there when I use the ftp to transfer.

I don't understand how they can show on the "show pages" but not actually be present anywhere. I have closed VSD and reopened and I can still see them under "show pages" but other than that they do not exist.

If you can see the pages in VSD, maybe try re-naming them (all lower case, no spaces or symbols) and then re-link to them and save. Then see if they show up in your website folder before up-loading.
In the link above (that doesn't work) it starts with 21" turquoise... try dropping the numbers and any " from the page names - keep them simple.

also is there a maximum number of pages allowed? It's like I got to 30 pages and the last 5 over that will not show up.

It sounds like your files are probably mixed in with other sites. I would suggest you open your site in VSD and then go to the File Menu > Save As and create a folder on your desktop and save your website into there. You should now be able to see all of your pages in that newly created folder.

Okay all is well. Here's the fix.

The very first page that did not show up was named 21"turquoise. From there on no other page would save. I went into page properties of the 21" and the next page that was called 20". I took out the " sign on both and magically all of the others (even those that didn't have an invalid symbol) immediately saved.

All is well. Thank you everyone : ) especially paintbrush for helping me identify the invalid character.
